The final eight face off at the 2023 Boylesports World Grand Prix on Friday as the quest for double-start glory continues in Leicester.

Four of the top eight seeds are left standing in the draw, while a clutch of in-form outsiders are looking to land the £120,000 top prize.

The opening Quarter-Final sees 2020 champion Gerwyn Price take on German star Martin Schindler.

Price finished runner-up here two years ago before falling at the Semi-Final hurdle in 2022, and has picked up a second World Cup title this year, while also finishing runner-up in the Premier League.

The fourth seed is yet to drop a set en route to the Last Eight, having overcome world number nine Danny Noppert and recent European Tour event winner Krzysztof Ratajski.

Schindler is appearing in his second major ranking Quarter-Final of the year, following on from the UK Open in March, and additionally reached the Semi-Finals of the World Cup alongside Gabriel Clemens.

He registered his first win in this event at the expense of five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld, before seeing off in-form Stephen Bunting in a fifth set decider, and has notably defeated Price in a Euro Tour event this season.

Chris Dobey aims to back up his magnificent victory over defending champion Michael van Gerwen when he comes up against close friend Joe Cullen.

Dobey dumped out the six-time champion in a deciding set with the aid of a stunning 156 checkout on Thursday to reach this stage of the competition for the third time in four appearances.

The reigning Masters champion and Premier League star also made the Last Eight of July’s World Matchplay and is now targeting a place in a first major ranking Semi-Final since the European Championship 12 months ago.

Cullen, meanwhile, produced one of the stand-out performances of the week so far to defeat Ross Smith 3-1 with a 94.6 average in a contest which featured 17 maximums.

Semi-finalist at the recent World Matchplay, Cullen has already equalled his best run in this event, having first made the Quarter-Finals behind closed doors three years ago.

World number three Peter Wright comes up against sixth seed Luke Humphries in another unmissable show-down.

Wright is bidding to secure his first major televised title since the 2021/22 World Championship and has enjoyed a welcome return to form on the big stage this week.

The 2018 World Grand Prix runner-up safely saw off German number one Gabriel Clemens in successive sets, before producing a trio of ton-plus checkouts in a 3-1 win over Ryan Searle on Thursday.

Humphries headed to Leicester in a blistering run of form, having reached a sixth Euro Tour final of the year in Hungary, before again losing out to Dave Chisnall in the final of a ProTour event last week.

The former UK Open finalist is through to the Quarter-Finals here at the third attempt following straight sets wins over 2017 champion Daryl Gurney and debutant Luke Woodhouse.

Cool Hand Luke has provisionally climbed back up to world number five and could enter the top four for the first time by lifting the trophy on Sunday.

The action gets under way from 7pm BST, with Quarter-Finals matches to be contested over the best of five sets.

All sets are the best of five legs and there will be no tie break in any set. All legs must begin and end with a double, meaning that a player must hit a double before they can begin scoring in each leg.
