The Second Round action continues at the Grand Slam of Darts on Thursday as a host of major title winners aim to maintain their charge in Wolverhampton.

A star-studded bottom half of the draw takes centre stage at the Aldersley Leisure Village on Day Six with a further four quarter-final places up for grabs.

Arguably the stand-out tie of the night sees Premier League champion Luke Littler take on World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker for the first time on a televised stage.

Littler has enjoyed a dream Grand Slam debut so far, romping Group F with maximum points after dropping just four legs in wins over Keane Barry, Dimitri van den Bergh and Lourence Ilagan.

The 17-year-old, who had suffered three straight First Round defeats in ranked majors prior to this event, has averaged 112, 107 and 102 so far this week and will be determined to maintain that prolific standard over the extended format.

Littler, who missed double 12 for a nine-darter in Tuesday’s win over Ilagan, is now firm favourite for the title following the shock early exits of rivals Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen, but faces a tough task against the Belgian number two.

De Decker, making only his second appearance in the Grand Slam, finished second in Group E after recovering from an opening day defeat by dispatching Mensur Suljovic 5-2 and brutally whitewashing Michael Smith in their straight shootout on Tuesday.

Another mouth-watering contest sees Masters champion Stephen Bunting face two-time Grand Slam finalist Gary Anderson.

The pair met in the recent European Championship, with Anderson prevailing 6-3 in the opening round, and both have been in blistering form so far this week.

Anderson, who competed in the inaugural Grand Slam back in 2007, maintained his flawless record in the group stage by making it 17 knockout qualifications in as many appearances.

The two-time World Champion did so in vintage fashion by topping Group G with three straight wins, including an average of 113.2 in his 5-1 rout of Ryan Joyce.

Bunting secured second spot in what was one of the greatest groups ever contested at the Grand Slam, registering a trio of 103+ averages in the process.

The former Lakeside Champion averaged 106.6 in a 5-2 win over Josh Rock in their decisive shootout and will be keen to emulate his run to last year’s semi-finals.

Gian van Veen has proved one of the stand-out performers of the tournament so far, and the Dutch sensation now comes up against World Grand Prix semi-finalist Ryan Joyce.

Back-to-back World Youth finalist Van Veen secured maximum points in an epic Group H with averages of 110.4, 114.7 and 104, underlining his credentials as one of the Netherlands’ most exciting young talents.

Van Veen’s best run in a ranked major came at last year’s European Championship – where he reached the semi-finals – and he has emphatically ended a run of three consecutive First Round exits in ranked majors this season.

Joyce defied the odds to send Michael van Gerwen packing from Group G on Tuesday as he took out 80 in the deciding leg of their shootout to reach the knockout phase for the second time.

The opening match of the night sees UK Open champion Dimitri van den Bergh take on European Championship runner-up Jermaine Wattimena.

Van den Bergh, making his first Grand Slam appearance since reaching the semi-finals in 2020, demolished Keane Barry 5-1 with a 104.5 average in their Group F shootout to storm into the Last 16.

The Belgian number one is now bidding to make it four consecutive quarter-final appearances in ranked majors this season, having failed to qualify for last month’s European Championship.

Wattimena enjoyed the best week of his career at the European Championship, losing out to an inspired Ritchie Edhouse in the final, and the quick-fire Dutchman has maintained the blistering form he showed in Dortmund.

Wattimena clinched top spot in Group E courtesy of wins over De Decker, Michael Smith and Suljovic and is now eyeing what would be only a third major ranking quarter-final of his career.

The action gets under way from 7pm GMT, with Second Round matches to be contested over the best of 19 legs.
