World Seniors Masters 2022 Odds | Taylor favourite to bounce back at Lakeside
Phil Taylor has been installed as the pre-tournament favourite to claim the inaugural World Seniors Masters title at Lakeside in 2022.
The over 50s tournament runs from May 27-29 and incorporates a prize fund of £31,000 as the stars of yesteryear return to the home of world darts – the Lakeside.
The line-up features nine former World Champions from both PDC and BDO codes, plus number of multiple major winners.
16-time World Champion Taylor was thrashed three sets to nil by Kevin Painter in the Quarter-Finals of the inaugural World Seniors Championship at The Circus Tavern in February and will be determined to bounce back at the venue in which he secured his first world title back in 1990.
Taylor has been priced as the marginal 15/8 favourite with Bet365 to open his Seniors account in Frimley Green and is situated in the opposite half of the draw to a number of his key rivals.
Robert Thornton, who stormed to victory at the World Seniors Championship for the loss of only three sets, follows in the market at 2/1 and could be on a collision course to meet ‘The Power’ in the final.
Thornton, however, faces a potential Second Round clash with Kevin Painter – the man he defeated 4-2 in the Semi-Finals at The Circus Tavern earlier this year.
Former Players Champion Painter is 7/1 to claim glory, with three-time BDO World Champion Martin Adams 5/1 to go one better than his runner-up spot in Purfleet by returning to the winner’s circle at his favourite venue.
Crowd favourite Terry Jenkins, who reached the Semi-Finals in February, is 10/1 to finally end his wait for an elusive maiden televised title.
Former World Championship semi-finalist Wayne Jones is 33/1 to triumph on his World Seniors Tour debut, as is Canadian qualifier David Cameron.
Four-time Women’s World Champion Lisa Ashton is a popular each-way selection at 66/1, with recent Women’s Series event winner Trina Gulliver a 300/1 outsider.
