Jimmy Van Schie has been installed as the favourite for the 2024 WDF World Championship men’s title on his debut at Lakeside.

The third staging of the WDF World Championship will take place from November 29 to December 8 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.

A total of 48 men and 24 women will compete for the respective senior titles and an overall prize fund of £257,000.

Dutch star Van Schie has picked up eight WDF titles during a stellar year, including the Czech Open and Swiss Open, as well as a PDC Challenge Tour title.

He heads to Lakeside for the first time as the number two seed and has attracted considerable interest in the pre-tournament better, with tournament sponsors Kwiff offering 3.15/1 for the giant Dutchman to follow in the footsteps of his compatriots Raymond van Barneveld, Jelle Klaasen and Christian Kist as a Lakeside Champion.

Van Schie is followed in the outright market by Scotland’s Gary Stone – the number ten seed who reached the Third Round at Lakeside 12 months ago.

Neil Duff, the 2022 WDF World Champion, is just shy of 6/1 to reclaim the crown, with ninth seed Thomas Junghans of Switzerland priced at 7.25/1 to secure an historic triumph.

Ireland’s Shane McGuirk has also attracted shrewd pre-tournament backing and is now just shy of 8/1 to claim glory, ahead of methodical German debutant Liam Maendl-Lawrance and Canada’s Jacob Taylor.

Top seed Danny Porter of Australia is 14.5/1 to round off his memorable year by following in the footsteps of his compatriot Tony David, while Slovenia’s Benjamin Pratnemer is also a 14.5/1 each-way prospect.

The field also includes former PDC Tour Card holders Brian Raman, Matthew Edgar, Kai Fan Leung and Carl Wilkinson.

Belgian ace Raman is priced at 29/1, while Edgar makes his debut as a 35/1 outsider – partially reflected by his tough opening round assignment against Jarno Bottenberg.

Paul Lim, who made history by landing the first, and to date only, televised nine-darter at Lakeside back in 1990, returns to the famous venue at the age of 70 and is priced at 90/1 to roll back the years.

Kwiff are proud partners of the WDF World Championship and are offering new customers £30 in Free Bets when registering and placing a first bet of £10.
