WDF World Championship 2024 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play

A double session awaits on Day Two of the WDF World Championship at Lakeside as 20 players commence their campaigns on Saturday.
The opening night of the WDF’s annual showpiece saw two former PDC Tour Card holders among those to progress to Round Two of the men’s competition.
Another former PDC star – Matthew Edgar – looks to secure his place in the Second Round at the expense of Dutchman Jarno Bottenberg in Saturday’s evening session.
Edgar, who featured in three PDC World Championships at Ally Pally, dropped off the circuit in 2021 but has enjoyed a resurgence in the WDF system, picking up the Slovenian Open and Iceland Masters titles in 2023.
The popular Daventry darter faces a tough opener against Bottenberg – who came through a vast field to claim this year’s Dutch Open title.
England’s Jordan Brooks kicks off the afternoon session with a First Round tie against Jun Matsuda, while veteran Scotsman Mark Barilli faces Ireland’s Shane McGuirk – a former Irish Open winner who has featured as a top-up on the PDC ProTour this year.
Hungary’s World Cup of Darts star Patrik Kovacs faces Sweden’s Bjorn Lejon for the right to face tournament favourite Jimmy van Schie in Round Two.
The men’s Second Round action begins with a clash between top seed Danny Porter of Australia and Belgium’s Francois Schweyen – who defeated Michael Cassar in straight sets on Friday night.
Former PDC star Brian Raman looks to follow up his impressive opening night win over Corné Groeneveld from a set down when he comes up against 16th seed Martyn Turner – the 2023 Welsh Open winner.
The opening match of the women’s event sees former Dutch Open finalist Anca Zijlstra take on Jitka Cisarova of the Czech Republic, before New Zealand’s Wendy Harper meets Hungary’s Greta Tekauer.
Australia’s Amanda Loch and Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen go head-to-head for the right to face back-to-back champion Beau Greaves in Round Two, while 2022 runner-up Kirsty Hutchinson takes on Hungary’s Veronika Ihasz – whose 164 checkout against Greaves in 2022 remains the highest finish in Women’s World Championship history.
The action gets under way from 1pm GMT, with Men’s and Women’s First Round ties to be contested over the best of three sets and Men’s Second Round ties best of five sets.
