Three-time World Champion John Part has withdrawn from the 2021 PDC Qualifying School due to travel restrictions.

Canadian legend Part had been due to travel to the UK to compete in Stage 1b of Qualifying School in Milton Keynes from February 11-13.

However, strict protocols mean overseas players must quarantine upon arrival in the UK and undergo multiple covid tests in order to be cleared to compete.

Part, who last held a PDC Tour Card in 2018, announced his decision on Twitter, posting: ‘I’ve finally had to relent on my desire to attend Q school with the many new travel restrictions.

‘A minimum of three weeks in hotels and several covid tests to survive in order to play and avoid even longer away are just too much, to say nothing of the associated health risks.’

Part, whose contract with Unicorn expired at the end of January, fell short in last year’s Qualifying School, suffering three exits at the Last 128 stage.

He now joins former PDC professional Jamie Caven in withdrawing from Qualifying School, which will see around 650 players bid to win one of 29 two-year Tour Cards.

The 54-year-old was set to be among a clutch of North American hopefuls at this year’s Q School, which will be split into two stages for the first time.

Canada’s Matt Campbell, who enjoyed an impressive debut in the recent World Championship, is set to join former UK Open finalist Gary Mawson and Leonard Gates at European Qualifying School in Niedernhausen, Germany.

American duo Danny Lauby and Danny Baggish, who both featured at Ally Pally last month, are set to compete in the UK Qualifying School.

The North American representatives are looking to join Canadian number one Jeff Smith on the PDC ProTour, with ‘The Silencer’ having progressed through Q School last year.
