Gerwyn Price prevails to claim Premier League Darts Night Two spoils in Antwerp
Gerwyn Price claimed glory on Night Two of the 2026 Premier League Darts campaign with victory over Michael van Gerwen on a landmark first outing in Antwerp.
The Premier League’s first visit to Belgium saw Price prevail to pick up maximum points at the AFAS Dome, ending Van Gerwen’s unbeaten start to the competition.
Van Gerwen had stormed to the Night One title in Newcastle last Thursday, but fell narrowly short of going back-to-back as Price clinched a 6-3 victory in the final.
The Welshman had earlier recorded successive 6-5 wins over Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton, maintaining his superb form from the Players Championship events earlier in the week.
The world number four took the opening two legs of the final, before Van Gerwen got off the mark in style with incredible consecutive checkouts of 167 and 160 to draw level.
Price then put in a run of three straight legs to power into a 5-2 lead, but squandered three match darts, allowing Van Gerwen to pin double four to keep his hopes alive.
Price, however, fired in a fourth 180 of the contest before converting tops to seal the deal with a 104 average.
“I started off really slow this evening, I felt really edgy. Losing last week, you want to get off to a good start,” said Price.
“I know I’m playing well, but you still have to do it on the big stage. Gian had a shot at the bull to beat me, and I could of been going home.
“I think I’m playing some of the best darts I’ve ever played, I’m just not winning tournaments, but that will come.
“If I keep playing the way I am, there’s no way I won’t pick up a major title.”
Despite missing out on back-to-back nightly victories for the first time since 2024 – Van Gerwen picked up from where he left off in Newcastle, defeating Josh Rock and Luke Littler to reach Thursday’s showpiece.
The seven-time Premier League champion started the evening with a below-par performance against Rock, but still managed to beat the Northern Irishman 6-2, as Rock looked visibly frustrated averaging below 80.
The Dutchman then went on to defeat a below-par Littler, winning three of the last four legs to see off the current World Champion 6-4.
Earlier in the night, Jonny Clayton produced an incredible comeback as he rallied from 4-0 down against Stephen Bunting to win six straight legs and inflict another disappointing defeat on the world number seven.
Littler averaged 105 in a blistering clash with Luke Humphries, edging out his great rival in a last-leg decider after Humphries had squandered three match darts.
Night Three of the BetMGM Premier League takes place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow next Thursday, as the darting roadshow visits Scotland for the first time this year.
