Luke Littler has ended his debut season as a PDC professional as world number two following his fairy-tale World Championship triumph.
A remarkable maiden campaign for the 17-year-old saw him pick up four major titles, culminating in a crowning glory at Alexandra Palace last week.
Having claimed the Premier League title to open his account, Littler went to win the World Series Finals and secured his first televised ranking title at the Grand Slam in November, before finishing runner-up in the Players Championship Finals.
He then went one better than his runner-up spot on debut at the World Championship 12 months earlier by storming to the £500,000 title, becoming the youngest World Champion in the sport’s history.
That historic triumph took his ranking prize money tally to over £1.1 million for the season, seeing the Warrington superstar climb a further two places to second on the PDC Order of Merit.
He now has his sights on displacing Luke Humphries from the world number one spot this year, with no prize money to defend until the 2025/26 World Championship.
Van Gerwen, who was soundly beaten 7-3 by Littler in his seventh World Championship final appearance, remains world number three after ending an otherwise barren season by his standards with a resurgent run on the sport’s biggest stage.
Despite a Second Round at the hands of Scott Williams at Ally Pally, Rob Cross ends the season as world number four – ensuring an automatic spot in the 2025 Premier League.
Stephen Bunting’s superb run to the semi-finals sees him end the season as world number five, climbing three places into his highest ranking as a PDC professional.
Nine-dart hero Damon Heta will start the new season as world number eight, climbing one place alongside Gerwyn Price – who returns to world number nine.
Chris Dobey’s landmark run to a maiden Paddy Power World Championship Semi-Final sees him climb five places to world number ten and clinch a Premier League return in the process.
Peter Wright’s resurgent run to the quarter-finals on the back of a torrid season by his standards has seen him regain five places in the Order of Merit at world number 12, though he misses out on a Premier League spot for the first time in 13 years.
Josh Rock has risen two places to world number 16, while James Wade is up one place to 15th despite suffering a third consecutive Last 64 exit at Ally Pally.
Michael Smith was undoubtedly the most significantly impacted player in the rankings following the sport’s showpiece event, with the 2023 World Champion plummeting 14 places to world number 16 after a shock Second Round defeat at the hands of Kevin Doets.
UK Open champion Dimitri van den Bergh, who reached the semi-finals at Ally Pally two years ago, has dropped seven places to 18th, ending the season outside the top 16 for the first time since 2019.
Ryan Joyce and Ricardo Pietreczko have each climbed four places to 29th and 30th respectively courtesy of their runs to the Last 16 at Ally Pally.
Raymond van Barneveld has slipped out of the top 32, into 34th, following his disappointing Second Round exit at the hands of Nick Kenny.
Gabriel Clemens, semi-finalist in 2023, tumbles ten places to 37th after ending a miserable season with a Last 64 defeat to Robert Owen.
Doets’ magnificent run to the Last 16 sees him surge ten places to 41st, while Callan Rydz’ second appearance in a World Championship quarter-final saw him climb three places to 40th.
Jose De Sousa, who failed to qualify for the event, and Kim Huybrechts, are both down five places to 45th and 46th respectively.
Ian White, who was beaten 4-1 by Littler in Round Three, climbs eight places to 49th, while Jim Williams and William O’Connor drop five and four places to 51st and 52nd respectively.
Dylan Slevin, Robert Owen, Connor Scutt and Jeffrey De Graaf, who all began the tournament ranked outside of the top 64, end it inside, with Owen surging 18 places to 59th and retaining his Tour Card as a result.
Boris Krcmar, Simon Whitlock, Jamie Hughes and Mervyn King were among the notable names to drop out of the top 64 and lose their Tour Card at the end of the season.
