Live Darts on Saturday | Hungarian Darts Trophy 2026 Day Two Preview and Order of Play

The seeded players begin their 2026 Hungarian Darts Trophy campaigns in the second round in Budapest on Saturday.

The opening day of the season’s 11th European Tour event produced a host of notable upsets, with two host nation qualifiers progressing to the Last 32.

The top 16 seeds enter the fray on Day Two as they bid to reach Sunday’s Last 16 and cement a place in October’s European Championship.

The afternoon session features a showdown between reigning champion Niko Springer and World Championship semi-finalist Ryan Searle.

Springer launched the defence of his title with a 6-1 rout of Maik Kuivenhoven on Friday, but now faces a formidable test against May’s International Open runner-up.

Gary Anderson marks only his third European Tour appearance of the season with a clash against Polish talisman Krzysztof Ratajski.

Anderson is yet to win a match on the European Tour this year, having suffered second round exits in both the Poland Darts Open and European Darts Grand Prix, but did pick up titles in 2024 and 2025.

European Darts Open champion Ratajski, meanwhile, began his bid for back-to-back European Tour silverware with a narrow 6-5 win over Callan Rydz in Round One.

Former European Champion Ross Smith aims to recover from back-to-back first round exits in the World Series in New Zealand and Australia when he comes up against two-time European Tour finalist Willie O’Connor.

Wessel Nijman, twice a European Tour event winner and a six-time Players Championship winner in 2026, opens up against eight-time European Tour event winner Dave Chisnall – who saw off Hungary’s András Borbély 6-3 in the opening round.

Jermaine Wattimena, who claimed the Players Championship 27 title on Tuesday with victory over Luke Littler along the way, starts out against former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding – who whitewashed Milán Biró in Round One.

Another stand-out tie sees the unseeded Rob Cross – twice a European Tour event winner – take on in-form Luke Woodhouse, who claimed his maiden European Tour title at the Baltic Sea Darts Open earlier this year.

Eleventh seed Chris Dobey, who remains in search of an elusive first European Tour title, faces a tricky opener against Tom Sykes – semi-finalist on the European Tour earlier this season and riding high after a 6-1 rout of Cameron Menzies in Friday’s opener.

Meanwhile, former UK Open champion Danny Noppert faces former European Champion Ritchie Edhouse, with both bidding to recapture their best form after an underwhelming season so far.

The evening session includes a clash between world number two Luke Humphries – who picked up the Players Championship 28 title on Wednesday – and recent World Matchplay semi-finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Fourth seed Jonny Clayton, who added to his World Series title haul at the New Zealand Darts Masters a fortnight ago, faces host nation qualifier László Kádár – who stunned Daryl Gurney in a last-leg decider on Friday.

Nandor Major’s reward for a shock first round scalp of Niels Zonneveld is a tie against reigning European Champion Gian van Veen – who is yet to pick up a European Tour title.

Reigning Austrian Open champion Josh Rock comes up against 2022 Hungarian Trophy champion Joe Cullen – who landed a 138 checkout in an impressive 6-3 win over Adam Leek on Friday.

Michael van Gerwen, the most successful player in European Tour history, looks to replicate his title triumph here in 2024 and starts out against James Hurrell – who incredibly played through the pain barrier to defy an injury to his throwing arm and defeat Damon Heta in a deciding leg.

Seventh seed Stephen Bunting, twice a European Tour event winner in 2025, opens up against Finland’s Jonas Masalin – who took advantage of an astonishing 31 missed darts at doubles from an out of sorts Kevin Doets to cause an upset on Day One.

Four-time European Tour event winner Nathan Aspinall, who struck a nine-darter on the ProTour in midweek, takes on two-time European Tour finalist Ryan Joyce – who overcame Cristo Reyes in his opener.

Latvia’s Madars Razma benefitted from the late withdrawal of James Wade to receive a bye into the second round, and he faces Ireland’s Keane Barry – who averaged 100.7 in a 6-2 rout of Martin Schindler.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with second round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
