Women’s World Matchplay 2025 Draw | Greaves to face Viinikainen

Beau Greaves will begin her quest to complete a hat-trick of Women’s World Matchplay titles against debutant Kirsi Viinikainen.

Greaves headlines the fourth edition of the event, which will be held at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on July 27, with a top prize of £10,000 on offer to the winner, as well as places in this year’s Grand Slam of Darts and PDC World Championship.

The 21-year-old is the top seed in the field, which is comprised of the top eight player on a one-year Order of Merit based on earnings during the PDC Women’s Series.

Greaves lifted the trophy for a second year running last July, after beating 2022 champion Fallon Sherrock 6-3 in the final.

She has built on that momentum by winning 10 PDC Women’s Series titles, including each of the most recent five, while winning each of her last 32 matches.

The first obstacle in her quest to complete a three-peat is Finland’s Viinikainen, who secured her Blackpool bow after holding onto her position in the top eight, having won event five in March.

Meanwhile, Sherrock’s attempt to go the extra step from 11 months ago will begin against another Winter Gardens debutant in Gemma Hayter, who finished sixth on the Order of Merit after winning two Women’s Series titles.

‘The Queen of the Palace’ is one of two Blackpool ever-presents in this year’s draw, along with Lisa Ashton.

The four-time BDO World champion takes on fifth seed Robyn Byrne, who reached the semi-finals of this event in 2023.

Elsewhere, Noa-Lynn van Leuven looks to win her first match in three appearances at the Women’s World Matchplay.

The Dutchwoman – a winner of six PDC Women’s Series titles – goes head to head with 2019 World finalist Lorraine Winstanley, who is back in Blackpool after a three-year absence.
