Groups A-D draw to a close at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts on Monday, with six places in the knockout phase up for grabs.

An enthralling opening weekend at the Aldersley Leisure Village saw six players confirm their knockout qualification with a game to spare, but a host of big names remain in need of a win in their final group fixture in order to progress.

The headline on Sunday night saw defending champion Luke Humphries resigned to elimination in Group A after slipping to a second successive defeat.

The world number one, who was stunned by Rowby-John Rodriguez on opening night, went down 5-3 to James Wade on Sunday, ensuring a rare early exit in a ranked major this season.

Humphries will be determined to avoid a hat-trick of defeats and secure third spot, but can only do so by overcoming Mickey Mansell and relying on legs difference.

Mansell has enjoyed a dream debut in the Grand Slam after coming through the Tour Card Holder qualifier last week, averaging 100.8 in a 5-3 win over Wade and following that up with a 97.2 average in defeating Rodriguez by the same scoreline.

The Northern Irishman is already assured of a first appearance in the Last 16 of a ranked major since 2014 will be out to secure top spot by pulling off another upset.

Meanwhile, three-time Grand Slam finalist Wade and World Cup of Darts runner-up Rodriguez face off in a straight shootout for the right to join Mansell in progressing.

Wade has reached at least the semi-final stage in each of his last three Grand Slam appearances, while Rodriguez is aiming to replicate his 2021 success when he reach the knockout phase for the first time.

Group D sees European Champion Ritchie Edhouse looking to clinch top spot with maximum points by subjecting a struggling Dave Chisnall to a third straight defeat.

Edhouse thrashed Ross Smith 5-1 with a 104 average before seeing off Connor Scutt 5-2, while 2014 finalist Chisnall has just two legs to show for his efforts in defeats to Scutt and Smith.

Challenge Tour Order of Merit winner Scutt and former European Champion Smith go head-to-head in a straight shootout for qualification later in the evening.

Rob Cross looks to maintain his perfect record of reaching the knockout phase when he faces three-time finalist Peter Wright in a crucial Group C clash.

Cross has made it to the Last 16 in each of his seven previous Grand Slam appearances and notably finished runner-up 12 months ago and knows that victory over Wright would all but confirm his qualification.

Cross has two points to his name and a legs difference of +1, three legs superior to Leonard Gates, while back-to-back defeats with sub-85 averages have left Wright on the brink of a third straight Group Stage exit.

American ace Gates secured his first win in this event at the expense of Wright on Sunday and must now better Cross’ result by a sufficient margin in order to qualify, as he takes on group leader Martin Lukeman – who already has one foot in the Last 16 following successive wins.

Danny Noppert has the opportunity to progress as Group B winner with maximum points if he can overcome Martin Schindler – who has failed to make it out of the group in four previous attempts.

Schindler’s permutations will become clearer following the tie between Cameron Menzies and Beau Greaves, with Greaves needing to win to have any chance to progressing, while the Scotsman could all but seal his qualification with victory by a strong margin.

The action gets under way from 7pm GMT, with Group Stage matches to be contested over the best of nine legs.
