The inaugural Flanders Darts Trophy gets under way in Antwerp on Friday as the qualifiers collide in Round One.
European Tour action continues with the tenth of 13 events this season featuring 48 players battling it out at Antwerp XPO from September 6-8.
The top 16 players in the PDC Order of Merit qualify automatically alongside the 16 highest ranked players on the PDC ProTour Order of Merit – who are seeded in the draw and enter in Saturday’s Second Round.
The afternoon session features a clash between two-time major winner Daryl Gurney and a resurgent Ritchie Edhouse for the right to face world number one Luke Humphries.
Gurney enjoyed a superb run to the semi-finals in Hildesheim last weekend, eventually losing out to Luke Littler, while Edhouse has two Euro Tour quarter-finals to his name this season.
Former World Championship semi-finalist Gabriel Clemens faces a tough opener against former Euro Tour event finalist Martin Lukeman, while former World Master Krzysztof Ratajski meets Welshman Robert Owen.
World Championship semi-finalist Scott Williams, one of two Reserve List callups to the event, opens up against Finland’s Marko Kantele, as ProTour event winner Alan Soutar takes on Jody Tobback – one of four Host Nation qualifiers.
Former UK Open quarter-finalist Sebastian Białecki starts out against Dutchman Jitse van der Wal, while Jermaine Wattimena takes on Belgian ace Brian Raman and Luke Woodhouse aims to avoid an upset at the hands of debutant Belgian qualifier Luc Bogaert.
The evening session features a stand-out fixture between ten-time major winner James Wade and in-form Cameron Menzies – who reached the final of a Players Championship event last month.
Former Masters champion and Premier League finalist Joe Cullen faces a tough opener against multiple ProTour event winner Callan Rydz, as Dutch ace Kevin Doets meets home hopeful François Schweyen.
Peter Wright aims to pick up from where he left off in Hildesheim last Sunday when he takes on multiple PDC ranking title winner Brendan Dolan.
Wright secured his first silverware of the season in remarkable fashion, reeling off six straight legs to stun Littler in the final and announce a timely return to the winner’s circle.
Meanwhile, the two most recent UK Open champions go head-to-head as Belgian number one Dimitri van den Bergh plays Andrew Gilding.
Multiple major winner Jonny Clayton comes up against former World Grand Prix finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode in another notable showdown.
Five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld is poised for an all-Dutch clash with Maik Kuivenhoven, while Belgian star Mike De Decker meets former Lakeside semi-finalist Richard Veenstra.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with First Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
