The top 16 seeds commence their 2024 Dutch Darts Championship campaigns in the Second Round in Rosmalen on Saturday.

Day One at the Autotron saw a number of big names crash out at the first hurdle, including home hero Raymond van Barneveld, former Masters champion Joe Cullen and German star Gabriel Clemens.

The 16 highest ranked players from the PDC ProTour Order of Merit enter the fray on Day Two, including defending champion Dave Chisnall – who opens up with a tie against Dutch left-hander Niels Zonneveld.

Michael van Gerwen aims to put Thursday’s Premier League play-off disappointment behind him when he makes a swift return to action on home soil to face fellow countryman Kevin Doets.

Van Gerwen was soundly beaten by Luke Humphries at The O2 in London, ending his reign as Premier League champion, and he will be determined to bounce back in his homeland – where he has picked up his only PDC title of the year so far.

Doets edged out Belgium’s Mike De Decker in a deciding leg on Friday and is eyeing a place in the Last 16 of a European Tour event for the first time.

The afternoon session sees former UK Open champions Danny Noppert and Andrew Gilding collide, while German Championship winner Ricardo Pietreczko faces Jermaine Wattimena – who pulled off a 6-5 win over Joe Cullen in a frosty encounter on Friday.

Ten-time major winner James Wade whitewashed Finland’s Teemu Harju in Round One and now comes up against multiple ranking event winner Ryan Searle.

Two-time Austrian Open champion Jonny Clayton kicks off his campaign with a tie against Host Nation qualifier Marvin van Velzen, as two-time major winner Daryl Gurney faces Luke Woodhouse – who survived six match darts from Ryan Meikle in his opener.

Reigning Masters champion Stephen Bunting takes on a resurgent Jeffrey De Graaf in the opening game of the afternoon, while second seed Damon Heta is tasked with a tough opener against in-form Ritchie Edhouse – bidding to reach the Last 16 on the Euro Tour for the fifth consecutive event.

The evening session features an all-Scottish showdown between two-time World Champion Peter Wright and in-form Cameron Menzies – who thrashed Van Barneveld 6-1 with a 103.8 average and three ton-plus finishes on Friday.

Dutch qualifier Moreno Blom also produced one of the stand-out performances of Day One, averaging 100.2 in a 6-3 win over Ryan Joyce, and his reward is a meeting with another North East star in Chris Dobey.

UK Open champion Dimitri van den Bergh averaged 103 in a high quality 6-3 defeat of Clemens, and the Belgian will now face former European Champion Ross Smith – runner-up in this year’s European Grand Prix.

Former World Champion Gerwyn Price returns to Euro Tour action after missing the last two events as he takes on Northern Ireland’s Mickey Mansell – who saw off William O’Connor 6-2 in Round One.

International Open champion Martin Schindler aims to continue his prolific form on the European Tour when he takes on Brendan Dolan – winner of a Players Championship event earlier this month.

Former Austrian Open finalist Josh Rock starts out against former major finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode – who landed four 180s in a 6-3 success against Callan Rydz on Friday.

European Championship semi-finalist Gian van Veen faces a tricky opener against in-form Dom Taylor – who averaged 102.2 in a 6-3 victory over Jose De Sousa.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
