The race to the 2019 European Darts Championship: Nine spots still up for grabs in Göttingen

The race to secure places in the 2019 European Championship will go down to the wire, with nine spots still up for grabs in the £500,000 major.
Following the Gibraltar Darts Trophy (September 27-29), the top 32 players from the final European Order of Merit will form the field for the Unibet European Championship in Göttingen.
As it stands, 23 players have already secured their place in the finals, leaving a host of players to battle it out for the remaining places.
Jamie Hughes, Keegan Brown and Glen Durrant are assured of a debut in the prestigious TV major, which runs from October 24-27 at the Lokhalle in Gottingen, Germany.
Michael van Gerwen, who won the title in consecutive years from 2014-2017, is guaranteed to be seeded number one and will face the player who qualifies in 32nd spot in Round One.
The 16 seeded players are confirmed for the Gibraltar Trophy, while the UK and European qualifying events will take place on Friday.
John Henderson currently occupies the 32nd and final spot in the provisional race table, just £500 ahead of nearest challenger Max Hopp and followed closely by Kyle Anderson, Justin Pipe and Brendan Dolan.
The likes of Ross Smith and Ted Evetts are also in line to make their debut, while five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld must come through the European qualifier and reach at least the Last 16 in Gibraltar if he is to qualify in his final year as a professional.
World finalist Michael Smith is also currently outside of the top 32 but crucially is seeded for the Gibraltar Trophy – where he must reach at least the Last 16 and hope other results go in his favour.
Mike De Decker, Karel Sedlacek, Dennis Nilsson and Cameron Menzies are ineligible for the remaining ET12 qualifiers and therefore cannot qualify for the European Championship.
