World Grand Prix 2019 qualification tables: Race to Dublin to go down to the wire

The race to reach the 2019 World Grand Prix enters the final straight this weekend with the two remaining Players Championship events to be held before the cut-off.

Following Players Championship 26 on Sunday, the 32-man field for the prestigious double-start major will be confirmed, with the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit joined by 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit.

The top eight players from the PDC Order of Merit will be seeded in the draw, which is due to take place early next week.

As it stands, 24 players have already secured their place in the main event, which runs from October 6-12 at the Citywest Convention Centre in Dublin.

Nathan Aspinall, Glen Durrant, Krzysztof Ratajski, Jamie Hughes and Chris Dobey have already done enough to clinch a debut in the Grand Prix, with 27 players can still mathematically gatecrash the line-up.

Mervyn King is clinging on to the 16th and final provisional qualifying spot via the ProTour Order of Merit with a £2,000 cushion over nearest challenger Gabriel Clemens.

Jose De Sousa’s sensational Players Championship victory last week has taken him to within £3,500 of the qualification places, narrowly ahead of World Cup finalist William O’Connor – who is hoping to ensure Republic of Ireland representation on home soil.

Kyle Anderson’s decision to opt out of the upcoming ProTour double-header rules him out of the qualification race, while the likes of Justin Pipe, Darren Webster, Ron Meulenkamp and 2011 finalist Brendan Dolan all have significant ground to make up.

Adrian Lewis and Joe Cullen are guaranteed a place via the ProTour Order of Merit but are on course to qualify in 15th and 16th respectively via the Main Order of Merit.
