Sky Bet are offering new customers huge enhanced odds of 50/1 for a goal to be scored in Man United v Aston Villa on Sunday.

Manchester United welcome Villa to Old Trafford in a Premier League encounter that could have significant implications for both sides heading into the international break.

United enter the weekend languishing in 17th place, having registered just one victory from their opening nine league matches. Michael Carrick’s side are without a win in seven Premier League fixtures, with defensive vulnerabilities proving particularly costly.

However, Tuesday’s dramatic 3-2 Champions League victory over Roma offered renewed optimism. Having trailed by two goals, United produced an impressive comeback, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice to secure a much-needed victory and end a nine-match winless run in all competitions.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, arrive sitting 10th following an inconsistent start to the campaign. Unai Emery’s side have shown signs of improvement, including an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City, although their momentum was interrupted by a 3-0 Champions League defeat against Barcelona.

Villa have nevertheless remained unbeaten in their previous five league matches, collecting three victories and two draws.

Nicolas Jackson represents a significant attacking threat for the visitors, having scored five goals in eight Premier League appearances. United will also need to contain Villa’s midfield creativity while addressing their own defensive problems, having failed to register a league clean sheet this season.

Team selection could prove challenging for Carrick, with Lisandro Martínez suspended and Carlos Baleba unavailable following a hamstring injury. Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte and Benjamin Šeško have also been sidelined.

Villa will be without suspended defender Matty Cash, while Amadou Onana and Matteo Ruggeri are ruled out through injury.

History strongly favours the hosts, who have lost just twice in 31 Premier League home meetings with Villa. United also secured a 3-1 victory in the corresponding fixture last March.

With Carrick desperate to translate European success into domestic improvement and Emery seeking to maintain Villa’s unbeaten league run, Sunday’s encounter promises an intriguing contest between two sides with plenty to prove.
