Live Darts on Saturday | World Grand Prix 2025 Semi-Finals Preview and Order of Play
The final four face off at the 2025 BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix on Saturday as the semi-finals take centre stage in Leicester.
The world’s top two are joined by two former major champions as they bid to reach Sunday’s double-start showpiece at the Mattioli Arena.
Luke Humphries and Luke Littler remain on a collision course for a dream date in the final, but Danny Noppert and Jonny Clayton will look to tear up the script and move a step closer to the £120,000 title.
The opening semi-final sees 2023 champion Humphries take on former UK Open champion Noppert.
Humphries is bidding to reach a third consecutive World Grand Prix final, having claimed his first major title here two years ago before losing out to Mike De Decker 12 months ago.
World Masters and Premier League champion this year, Humphries made light work of 2022 finalist Nathan Aspinall in the opening round, before dispatching both Krzysztof Ratajski and Cameron Menzies by 3-1 scorelines.
The world number one is out to remain in the running for an eighth televised ranking title and has won each of his last nine major ranking semi-finals.
Noppert is appearing at this stage of proceedings for the second time, having equalled his run in 2021 courtesy of three superb showings this week.
The 13th seed edged out Jermaine Wattimena in a last-leg decider before knocking out fourth seed Stephen Bunting 3-1 with nine 180s to his name.
The Dutch number two then went on to defeat two-time World Champion Gary Anderson from a set down in Friday’s quarter-finals.
The second semi-final sees reigning World Champion Littler come up against 2021 World Grand Prix champion Clayton.
The pair notably met in February’s World Masters, with Clayton claiming a four sets to two victory, defying a 108.5 average from Littler en route to finishing runner-up in Milton Keynes.
Littler is looking to add this title to his ever-growing career haul which also includes the World Championship, World Matchplay, Premier League, UK Open and Grand Slam.
The world number two atoned for last year’s early exit by defying a tournament record average of 106.47 from Gian van Veen to prevail in straight sets with a 105.6 average of his own in a match lasting little over ten minutes.
He then dismantled defending champion Mike De Decker in three unanswered sets, before sensationally recovering from two sets down and surviving three match darts to edge out Gerwyn Price in a last-leg decider thanks to a 152 checkout.
Clayton has continued his clinical consistency in TV majors this season by winning through to a fourth consecutive televised ranking semi-final.
Dutch Darts Championship winner and a ProTour event winner in Rosmalen this season, Clayton cruised past Andrew Gilding in straight sets to get off and running this week, before seeing off Luke Woodhouse 3-1 and thrashing Dirk van Duijvenbode in straight sets.
The action gets under way from 8pm BST, with semi-final matches to be contested over the best of nine sets.
All sets are the best of five legs and there will be no tie break in any set. All legs must begin and end with a double, meaning that a player must hit a double before they can begin scoring in each leg.
