WDF World Championship 2024 | Day Four Preview and Order of Play

The opening round of the men’s and women’s events conclude on Day Four of the 2024 WDF World Championship at Lakeside.
Three seeded players have already been sent packing in the men’s competition, while four-time champion Lisa Ashton suffered a shock early exit from the women’s event on Sunday.
Monday’s afternoon session sees the women’s first round draw to a close as Lerena Rietbergen of the Netherlands and Maud Jansson of Sweden collide for the right to face third seed Rhian O’Sullivan in the Last 16.
Former PDC Challenge Tour winner and World Cup of Darts star Dennis Nilsson, who reached the semi-finals 12 months ago, opens up against Australian debutant Howard Jones.
Romania’s László Kádár takes on Austria’s Hannes Schnier for the right to face 11th seed Jason Brandon in Round Two later this week.
Darren Johnson, who has also competed in the World Seniors Championship and on the PDC ProTour, faces a tough opener against World Open and England Masters winner Reece Colley.
The evening session sees Singapore legend Paul Lim return to the scene of his historic first nine-darter when he takes on Dutch youngster Moreno Blom.
Lim famously landed the first, and to date only, televised nine-darter at Lakeside back in 1990 and is the oldest player in this year’s event at 70, facing an opponent 47 years his junior.
Two former women’s world finalists face off for the place in the quarter-finals as fourth seed Deta Hedman takes on 2022 runner-up Kirsty Hutchinson.
Fourth seed Brandon Weening of Australia starts out against Japan’s Jun Matsuda for a place in the Last 16, with Matsuda having seen off Jordan Brooks 2-1 in his opener.
Peter Machin, the 2017 BDO World Trophy winner, returns to Lakeside as the fifth seed and faces a tough opener against Welshman Mike Gillet – who averaged 91.6 in a straight sets win over Ky Smith on Sunday night.
The action gets under way from 1pm GMT, with Men’s and Women’s First Round ties to be contested over the best of three sets and Men’s Second Round ties best of five sets.
