The final four face off for the right to become the latest new name on the Grand Slam of Darts trophy in Wolverhampton on Sunday.

After a pulsating week of action at the Aldersley Leisure Village, four remain in pursuit of the iconic Eric Bristow Trophy and £150,000 top prize.

The tournament has proved to be a tale of two halves, with two rank outsiders progressing to their first major semi-final and two proven major winners storming through.

A test of darting stamina and skill sees the semi-finals take place in the afternoon session, before the final takes centre stage later in the evening.

A mouth-watering clash sees two-time World Champion Gary Anderson take on reigning Premier League champion Luke Littler on a televised stage for the first time.

Littler was installed as clear favourite following the shock early exits of the likes of Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen and is closing in on a first PDC major ranking title.

A winner of nine titles this season, Littler has swept into the semis following five blistering displays with ton-plus averages in each, topping Group F for the combined loss of just four legs, before recovering from 9-7 down to edge out Mike De Decker in a thrilling Last 16 tie.

The 17-year-old then needed just 28 minutes of play to demolish Jermaine Wattimena 16-2 with a 105 average, equalling the record for the most one-sided scoreline in Grand Slam history and missing double 12 for a nine-darter for the second time this week.

He now comes up against Scotland’s most decorated darter – who has his eyes on a dream first Grand Slam crown in what is his 17th appearance.

Anderson has enjoyed another terrific year away from the major stages, winning the European Darts Grand Prix and two Players Championship events, but has brought that prolific floor form to Wolverhampton this week.

He began by averaging 113.2 in a 5-1 rout of Ryan Joyce in Group G – which he topped following further wins over Michael van Gerwen and Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

The 53-year-old then saw off Masters champion Stephen Bunting 10-6 in the Last 16 before edging out in-form Gian van Veen 16-14 in Saturday’s quarter-finals.

Littler has already climbed to 11th in the live Order of Merit and could rise to fifth should he claim the crown, while Anderson is provisionally 13th and could also climb to fifth by taking the title.

The opening semi-final features two players deep into uncharted territory as Martin Lukeman and Mickey Mansell collide in the biggest match of their respective careers.

Both players came through the Tour Card Holder qualifier to secure a debut appearance in this event and have seized the opportunity with a series of superb victories.

Lukeman claimed top spot in Group C courtesy of wins over Leonard Gates, Rob Cross and Peter Wright, before overcoming Ross Smith 10-5 in the Last 16 and doing the double over Cross with a 16-11 success in Friday’s quarter-finals.

Lukeman, who came into the tournament as world number 45, has put a largely disappointing season behind him with a dream debut run and will be determined to follow up his 98 average on Friday.

Mansell, meanwhile, had never made it beyond the Last 16 of a televised ranking tournament in over a decade as a PDC professional prior to this event, but has enjoyed a fantastic run here against the odds.

The 51-year-old came through Group A in second spot with four points following wins over James Wade and Rowby-John Rodriguez, ensuring defending champion Humphries crashed out.

He then defeated eighth seed Danny Noppert 10-7 before holding his nerve in a nail-biting 31st leg decider to crush Cameron Menzies’ hopes in the quarter-finals.

Mansell’s exploits this week have seen him climb from 56th to 43rd in the Order of Merit with the power to add on Sunday.

The action gets under way from 1pm GMT, with semi-finals and the final to be contested over the best of 31 legs.
