The opening match of the night sees two-time World Champion Gary Anderson take on Belgian number two Mike De Decker.
Anderson, World Grand Prix runner-up in 2016, has enjoyed a sensational season away from the major stages, winning the European Darts Grand Prix alongside two Players Championships.
The Flying Scotsman survived two match darts from Michael Smith in the opening round to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory and is now vying to reach the quarter-finals of this event for the first time since 2020.
De Decker also survived a match dart in his opener, narrowly denying world number ten Damon Heta, and victory here would see him provisionally move in to the world’s top 32 for the first time.
A box office showdown sees 2020 World Grand Prix champion Gerwyn Price take on two-time champion James Wade.
Price has reached the final in three of his last four World Grand Prix appearances, and was denied glory again by Luke Humphries 12 months ago.
The Welshman, who has dropped to seventh in the PDC Order of Merit, survived a match dart from Danny Noppert as he eventually dragged himself over the line in Round One.
Wade enjoyed a superb run to the semi-finals of the World Matchplay this summer and has climbed back to the periphery of the world’s top 16 in what is his 20th year as a PDC professional.
The ten-time major winner recovered from a set down to defeat Peter Wright in Round One and is eyeing a quarter-final berth in this prestigious tournament for the first time in a decade.
Daryl Gurney, the 2017 champion, looks to follow up his remarkable First Round whitewash of Michael van Gerwen when he takes on former Premier League finalist Joe Cullen.
Gurney pulled off a magnificent scalp of the six-time champion on Tuesday and now stands on the verge of a first quarter-final appearance in this event since 2018.
Cullen, who enjoyed a fine run to the semi-finals here 12 months ago and was runner-up in this year’s Austrian Open, began by defeating Chris Dobey 2-1, returning to form after a difficult spell away from the TV cameras.
The final match of the evening sees two-time Grand Prix finalist Dave Chisnall face reigning UK Open champion Dimitri van den Bergh.
Chisnall has enjoyed another terrific campaign away from the TV stage in 2024, claiming two European Tour titles and two Players Championships to climb to fifth in the Order of Merit.
The St Helens ace brushed aside debutant Cameron Menzies in straight sets and now faces a player renowned for producing his best in TV majors.
Van den Bergh averaged 97.2 in a 2-1 win over Luke Woodhouse and is now targeting a third consecutive televised ranking quarter-final appearance this season.
