The field of players and qualification criteria for the 2022 World Seniors Masters has been announced as the legends of darts return to Lakeside.
The 2022 World Seniors Masters will take place from May 27-29 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green – former home of the BDO World Championship.
The event will feature 20 players competing for the inaugural title, with a host of former World Champions and World Masters winners joined by a series of qualifiers and wildcards.
Robert Thornton goes out in search of a second successive World Seniors crown, having triumphed in the recent World Seniors Championship at the Circus Tavern.
Thornton will be joined in the star-studded line-up by Martin Adams – the man he defeated in the final in Purfleet – as well as 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor, who won his first world title at Lakeside back in 1990.
World Seniors Championship semi-finalists Kevin Painter and Terry Jenkins also feature, alongside multiple Women’s World Champions Trina Gulliver MBE and Lisa Ashton, plus two-time Women’s World Master Deta Hedman.
Former World Champions John Part, Keith Deller, Bob Anderson, John Lowe and Les Wallace will also compete, while 1996 World Masters winner Colin Monk makes his World Seniors debut.
Former UK Open champion Roland Scholten returns to action, alongside two-time World Masters finalist Tony O’Shea.
Two players will come through the qualifying events to be held from April 8-10 in Reading, while the highest non-qualified player from the WSDT Order of Merit will also earn a spot.
The final available place will be decided by a public vote on social media between Paul Lim, Peter Manley, Peter Evison, Chris Mason, Larry Butler, Co Stompe and John Walton.
