World Seniors Darts Championship 2022 Odds | Taylor favourite for Circus Tavern triumph
Phil Taylor has been installed as firm favourite in the betting odds to claim the inaugural World Seniors Championship title in 2022.
The 16-time World Champion will return to the Circus Tavern in Purfleet from February 3-6 – home to some of his most iconic triumphs throughout the 90s and 2000s.
Taylor heads a star-studded 24-player field, which is comprised of former World Champions, major winners and qualifiers over the age of 50.
Taylor, 61, retired from professional competition following defeat to Rob Cross in the final of the 2017/18 PDC World Championship, but has remained active in exhibition and online events in recent years.
The Power is one of eight seeds who will enter the tournament at the Second Round stage, and will await the winner of the tie between multiple PDC world finalist Peter Manley and former Women’s World Master Deta Hedman.
Skybet make Taylor the best-priced even money favourite to become the first name on the World Seniors Championship trophy.
Robert Thornton follows in the market at 5/1, with the former UK Open and World Grand Prix winner having recently competed in the PDC Qualifying School and Modus Live League.
Thornton faces former World Champion Bob Anderson in Round One for the right to take on Trina Gulliver, though ‘The Thorn’ is situated in the top half of the draw alongside Taylor, with the pair on a collision course to meet in the Semi-Finals.
Three-time BDO World Champion Martin Adams has been shortened in the outright market from 12/1 to 9/1, with ‘Wolfie’ placed in the bottom half of the draw and having produced some vintage form in recent Live League action.
Wayne Warren, the 2020 BDO World Champion, is the 11/1 fourth favourite but could run into Taylor in the Quarter-Finals, while Singapore legend Paul Lim follows at 14/1 and is one of only two players in the field to have competed in December’s PDC World Championship.
Four-time Women’s World Champion Lisa Ashton, who also featured at Ally Pally, was handed a place in the event after failing to regain her PDC Tour Card at Q School, and is 20/1 to claim glory at the Circus Tavern.
