The draw for the 2025 WDF World Championship has been confirmed, with 85 players competing across four events at Lakeside.

The fourth staging of the WDF World Championship will take place from November 28 to December 7 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.

A total of 48 men, 25 women, eight boys and four girls will compete for the respective titles and an overall prize fund of £221,000.

Reigning men’s champion Shane McGuirk will begin the defence of his title with a clash against Finland’s Petri Rasmus for the right to take on ninth seed Stefan Schroder in round two.

Jimmy van Schie is the number one seed and will open up against either Welshman Alex Williams or Croatia’s Romeo Grbavac in the second round.

Grbavac’s Croatian compatriot Boris Krcmar is one of 24 debutants in this year’s men’s event and has been drawn to face Kevin Luke of the USA in round one.

Former champion Neil Duff, the number three seed, starts out against either New Zealand’s Ben Robb or Sweden’s Johan Engstrom.

Former PDC Tour Card holders Brian Raman and Jeffrey Sparidaans also collide in round one, while second seed Jason Brandon awaits the winner of the tie between 14-year-old Scottish sensation Mitchell Lawrie and Japan’s Tomoya Maruyama.

Lawrie will also feature in the boys’ competition – where he has been drawn to face Hungary’s Adam Sepsi in the quarter-finals.

A new name will be etched onto the women’s trophy, with reigning champion Beau Greaves having opted to compete in the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace.

Lerena Rietbergen is the top seed and will face either Aletta Wajer or Aaja Jalbert in round two.

Last year’s runner-up Sophie McKinlay returns to take on either 2024 Girls’ champion Paige Pauling or Lisa Zollikofer.

Deta Hedman, 66, will make her 15th Lakeside appearance and meets either former champion Mikuru Suzuki or Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen.

Newly-crowned Women’s World Master Lorraine Hyde will start out against either Paula Murphy or Emine Dursun in the Last 16.

Due to an administrative error made during the final qualifier in Budapest which saw Maud Jansson being invited and included in the draw rather than Lisa Zollikofer, the WDF elected to invite both players, taking the number of participants for the WDF Women’s World Championship to 25.

Zollikofer takes the place of Qualifier 1 in the draw, while Qualifier 2 will be determined by a play-in match on the first day of Lakeside between the two winners of the last-chance Budapest qualifier.

The full schedule of play is due to be confirmed on Wednesday.
