Field confirmed for 2024 WDF World Championship

The field of players for the 2024 WDF World Championship has been confirmed ahead of the showpiece event at Lakeside.

The third staging of the WDF World Championship will take place from November 29 to December 8 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.

A total of 48 men and 24 women will compete for the respective senior titles and an overall prize fund of £257,000.

Andy Baetens was crowned men’s champion in 2023, but will not be on hand to defend his title after earning a PDC Tour Card at Qualifying School in January.

Beau Greaves is the reigning and back-to-back Women’s World Champion and is the number one seed following another dominant year on the circuit.

Both the men’s and women’s fields have seen a number of changes from the original list of qualifiers, with a host of players having withdrawn.

Ben Robb, Leonard Gates, Connor Scutt, Fallon Sherrock and Noa-Lynn van Leuven declined their WDF World Championship invitations after securing a place in the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace.

New Zealand’s Jonny Tata has also withdrawn from the men’s draw and will be replaced, alongside Scutt, by England’s Aaron Turner and Australia’s Michael Cassar.

Aussie ace Danny Porter is the number one seed in the men’s draw, ahead of Dutch star Jimmy van Schie and 2022 WDF World Champion – Neil Duff.

Former PDC Tour Card holder Matthew Edgar will feature in the event for the first time, alongside the likes of Brian Raman and Paul Lim – who achieved the first, and to date only, televised nine-darter at Lakeside back in 1990.

Details of the new board sponsor for the event and full broadcast information will be revealed in advance of the draw – which takes place on Tuesday November 5.
