Mensur Suljovic has withdrawn from the 2021 Betfred World Matchplay for medical reasons.
The Austrian will miss the annual summer show-piece in Blackpool, having been advised against travelling to the UK by his doctor.
Suljovic, 49, has also not featured in either of the two most recent blocks of PDC Super Series events, with his last competitive appearance coming in Players Championship 12 back in April.
Suljovic will be replaced in the 32-man field by Jermaine Wattimena – the next highest ranked non-qualified player from the ProTour Order of Merit.
Wattimena will now take on reigning World Champion Gerwyn Price in the First Round on the opening night at the Winter Gardens on Saturday July 17.
The Dutch ace will make his fourth consecutive World Matchplay appearance and is bidding to reach the Second Round for the first time.
Gutted for @MensurSuljovic when he will missed out the world matchplay this year. hopefully you will be healthy in soon and back at darts. Take care mensur.
