The race to secure places in the 2021 Betfred World Matchplay culminates at PDC Super Series 5 in Coventry this week.

Just four ProTour events remain before the cut off for the prestigious major, which returns to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool from July 17-25.

Following Players Championship 20 on July 8, the top 16 players in the Main Order of Merit and the next 16 highest ranked players in the ProTour Order of Merit will comprise the field for the World Matchplay.

As it stands, eight players are poised to make their debuts in Blackpool: Devon Petersen, Damon Heta, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Luke Humphries, Ross Smith, Callan Rydz, Ryan Searle and Madars Razma.

Razma occupies the 16th and final ProTour qualification spot as he bids to become the first Latvian to feature in the event, but is just £500 clear of Stephen Bunting and Martijn Kleermaker.

Decorated stars Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld are also among the chasing pack, while Adrian Lewis is £6,000 adrift of Razma.

Premier League champion Jonny Clayton currently occupies the final seeded spot, narrowly ahead of Ian White.

Dimitri van den Bergh will be seeded for the first time as he aims to successfully retain the title he won as a qualifier 12 months ago.

Other former champions among the seeded positions include Michael van Gerwen, James Wade, Gary Anderson and Rob Cross.

The draw for the Betfred World Matchplay will take place on Friday July 9, with further details to be confirmed in due course.
