The stars of world darts do battle at the 2022 Betfred World Matchplay, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

The prestigious ranking major will see 32 players compete for a record £800,000 prize fund at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool from July 16-24.

The top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit are seeded in the draw and are joined by 16 qualifiers from the ProTour Order of Merit.

Peter Wright returns to Blackpool as the defending champion, having defeated Dimitri van den Bergh 18-9 in last year’s final.

Five other former champions also feature in the field – Van den Bergh, Michael van Gerwen, James Wade, Rob Cross and Gary Anderson.

Former finalists in action include Michael Smith and Adrian Lewis, while the likes of Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton and Luke Humphries look to get their hands on the Phil Taylor Trophy for the first time.

Martin Schindler, Martin Lukeman, Madars Razma and Rowby-John Rodriguez are the four debutants in this year’s competition.

First Round matches are to be contested over the best of 19 legs, with Second Round best of 21, Quarter-Finals best of 31, Semi-Finals best of 33 and the final best of 35.

All matches must be won by two clear legs, with a match being extended if necessary for a maximum of six extra legs before a sudden death leg is required.

For example, in a first to ten First Round match, if the score reaches 12-12 then the 25th leg will be the sudden death decider.
