The race to the 2025 World Matchplay | Latest qualification tables
The race to qualify for the 2025 World Matchplay draws to a close following Players Championship 21 on Wednesday.
The top 16 players on the Main Order of Merit will be joined by the next 16 highest ranked players on the ProTour Order of Merit at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool from July 19-27.
A number of places remain up for grabs in the prestigious major, with a host of star names battling to secure a spot on one of the sport’s most iconic stages.
All eyes will be on former World Champion Michael Smith as he bids to gatecrash the ProTour qualification spots and avoid missing out on the Matchplay for the first time since 2013.
Runner-up in 2019, Smith was a beaten semi-finalist in Blackpool last year but has since dropped out of the world’s top 16 and heads into the decisive ProTour double-header in Leicester £4,250 adrift of Ryan Joyce – who currently occupies the 16th and final ProTour qualification berth.
Raymond van Barneveld, runner-up in 2010, sits marginally ahead of Joyce with a £5,000 cushion over Smith, while Luke Woodhouse is a further £1,000 ahead of the Dutchman.
Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski is also among the chasing pack and requires a strong run in Leicester in order to have any chance of reaching the Matchplay, as do the likes of Ritchie Edhouse and Niels Zonneveld.
Players Championship event winners Cameron Menzies and Wessel Nijman are in line to make their World Matchplay debuts.
Josh Rock has the opportunity to climb into the top 16 on the Main Order of Merit, but needs to overturn a £7,000 deficit to Danny Noppert in order to do so.
The draw for the Betfred World Matchplay will be made on Thursday July 10, with exact timings to be confirmed in due course.
