PDC Order of Merit following the Winmau World Masters | Humphries closes in on record tally
Luke Humphries has moved to within touching distance of a record tally on the Order of Merit after becoming the inaugural PDC Winmau World Masters champion.
Humphries held his nerve in a dramatic last-leg shootout to deny Jonny Clayton in Sunday’s final and claim the World Masters crown in Milton Keynes.
The world number one scooped the £100,000 top prize, extending his lead over Luke Littler at the top of the world rankings and closing to less than £96,000 of the £2million mark.
No player has ever broken the £2million barrier on the two-year Order of Merit system, but Humphries could do so by claiming a maiden UK Open title next month.
A resurgent Clayton enjoyed a superb run to his first major ranking final since the 2023 World Matchplay, and the Welshman climbs above Dave Chisnall into the world number six spot.
Meanwhile, Nathan Aspinall’s run to the quarter-finals in Milton Keynes sees him climb one place into tenth spot, while Danny Noppert’s superb semi-final run also sees him move up one place to 12th.
Scottish duo Peter Wright and Gary Anderson drop one place to 13th and 15th respectively, while Dimitri van den Bergh regains a place in the elite top 16 following a memorable run to the semi-finals which saw him defeat Michael van Gerwen with the aid of a nine-darter.
Michael Smith’s first round exit at the hands of Noppert means he drops a further two places to 18th, while William O’Connor climbs three places to 49th after coming through the Preliminary Rounds to reach the Last 16 of the revamped major.
