James Wade parts ways with The Sportsman Management Company
James Wade has parted ways with The Sportsman Management Company, it was announced on Tuesday.
Wade joined Mac Elkin’s Sportsman Management Company in June 2020 and since picked up his tenth major televised title at the 2021 UK Open.
He also enjoyed a return to the Premier League, reaching the Semi-Finals this year, as well as the final of the New South Wales Darts Masters during his World Series campaign.
Wade, who joined the PDC in 2004, remains among the top echelons of the sport at world number five, but has reached a decision to split from his management with immediate effect.
A statement from The Sportsman Management Company on social media read: ‘We wish to announce that The Sportsman Management Company and James Wade have amicably parted ways.
‘James will forever be recognised in darting history as one of the most decorated players of all time.
‘TSMC were proud and privileged to be a part of his successful career, the highlight being his 2021 UK Open triumph.
‘We’d like to wish James every success going forward and we remain on both excellent personal and professional terms with him.’
The 39-year-old has not been beyond the Second Round of a televised ranking event since the UK Open in March and is currently not in the provisional line-up for the Grand Slam later this month – where he would be defending his runner-up prize money from two years ago.
Wade is one of only two ever-presents in the Grand Slam since 2007, alongside Gary Anderson, and may be forced to come through the Tour Card Holder Qualifier in Barnsley on Sunday if he is to maintain that record.
