The group stage action draws to a close at the 2026 World Cup of Darts on Friday as a host of star names bid to secure a spot in the second round.

The opening day of the prestigious pairs event saw the likes of Wales, Poland, Republic of Ireland and hosts Germany get their campaigns off to a winning start at the Eissporthalle.

A bumper double session on Friday features the second set of group fixtures, as the losing nations from Thursday’s opening games face the third team from each group in the afternoon session, before the decisive final group games are contested in the evening session.

Following the conclusion of the group stage, the draw for the Last 16 will take place, as the top four seeds England, Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Scotland enter the fray in Saturday’s second round.

The afternoon’s line-up includes a showdown between former champions Australia and Canada’s duo of Jim Long and David Cameron.

Damon Heta, who partnered Simon Whitlock to glory in 2022, is alongside new Tour Card holder Adam Leek for the first time, though the pair fell short in a last-leg decider against USA on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Belgium bid to recover from a shock opening night defeat to Hong Kong as Mike De Decker and Dimitri van den Bergh face Slovenian debutants Benjamin Pratnemer and Stefano Božiček.

Croatia’s Boris Krčmar and Pero Ljubić also look to bounce back from Thursday’s defeat to Japan in Group K when they face Cristo Reyes and José Justicia of Spain.

Meanwhile, victory for Motomu Sakai and Haruki Muramatsu over Spain in the evening session would see them clinch a second round berth for Japan.

An historic moment for Mongolian darts sees Altantülkhüür Myagmarsüren and Ganzorig Lkhagvasüren make their big stage debut for a tie against Jeffrey de Graaf and Oskar Lukasiak of Sweden – who overcame South Africa in their Group F opener.

Craig Galliano and Justin Hewitt of Gibraltar – who replaced Uganda in the line-up – start out against Singapore’s Paul Lim and Phuay Wei Tan – who were beaten 4-1 by Republic of Ireland on opening night.

Trinidad & Tobago also make their debut in the World Cup of Darts as Joshua Balfour and James Walklin face Italy’s Michele Turetta and Riccardo Castelli in Group J.

The evening session sees Premier League star Jonny Clayton and his debutant team-mate Nick Kenny bid to make it successive wins for Wales when they face Thailand’s Sarayut Ouamuapa and Sorawis Rodman.

After a commanding opening night win, Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko aim to rubber-stamp Germany’s place in the second round by overcoming Jonny Tata and Ben Robb of New Zealand in Group A.

USA and Canada also go head-to-head in a tasty Group G encounter, while former finalists Austria face France in Group I.

The action gets under way from 11am BST (12pm local time), with all matches to be contested over the best of seven legs.
