The qualification criteria for the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts has been confirmed, with a number of changes for this year’s event.

The 32-player PDC ranking event will take place from November 13-21 at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

This year’s Grand Slam will be the first since the event began in 2007 not to feature any BDO/WDF representatives.

The field will be comprised of PDC tournament winners and finalists from the last 12 months, as well as various Order of Merit winners and Tour Card holder qualifiers.

Reigning champion Jose De Sousa and World Champion Gerwyn Price – back-to-back Grand Slam champion 2018 and 2019 – will headline the field.

Up to 16 places are to be occupied by TV event winners and runners-up over the past year, with ten of those spots already secured with just four tournaments remaining.

Premier League and Masters champion Jonny Clayton, World Matchplay winner Peter Wright, UK Open champion James Wade and Players Championship Finals winner Michael van Gerwen have all won televised events in the qualifying period.

In addition, Gary Anderson, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Mervyn King and Luke Humphries have reached TV finals in the past 12 months.

The World Cup of Darts, World Grand Prix, European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals remain as televised events for players to qualify for the Grand Slam.

Should those 16 places not be filled from the televised events, winners from the 2021 European Tour and then Players Championship events would be called up.

A further eight players will come through the PDC Tour Card Holder Qualifier held on November 5.

Reigning World Youth Champion Bradley Brooks and runner-up Joe Davis will be joined by the winners from the UK and European Challenge and Development Tour Orders of Merit, as well as two Women’s Series qualifiers.
