International Darts Open 2025 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The third European Tour silverware of the season is up for grabs at the International Darts Open on Sunday as the last 16 face off in Riesa.
A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the SACHSENarena as ten seeds and six qualifiers lock horns over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.
Gerwyn Price continues his quest for a record-extending fifth International Open crown with a clash against fellow Premier League star Nathan Aspinall.
Both players have already picked up a ranking title this season, with Price claiming a Players Championship triumph last week and Aspinall securing a landmark first European Tour success in Gottingen a fortnight ago.
Price defied a 100.6 average from Mike De Decker to see off the World Grand Prix champion his opener on Saturday, while Aspinall thrashed a struggling Joe Cullen 6-1 with a 91.5 average.
World number one Luke Humphries steps up his pursuit of an eighth Euro Tour triumph when he faces former European Champion Ross Smith.
Humphries is yet to progress beyond the quarter-final stage on the European Tour this season, but made a strong start in Riesa by thrashing Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-1 with a 99.8 average.
Smith, twice a Euro Tour finalist last year and twice a ProTour semi-finalist in 2025, averaged 101 in a commanding 6-2 win over Ricardo Pietreczko to get his campaign under way.
Home favourite Martin Schindler resumes the defence of his title with a tie against two-time major winner Dimitri Van den Bergh.
Schindler saw off Thomas Lovely 6-2 in Friday’s opening round with a 102.7 average before receiving a bye through to the Last 16 following the late withdrawal of Rob Cross through illness.
Van den Bergh, the number 14 seed, defeated France’s Thibault Tricole 6-4 on Saturday to register his first win on the European Tour this season.
Stephen Bunting, Thursday’s Premier League night nine winner in Berlin, looks to continue his resurgent form when he faces the enigmatic Cameron Menzies.
Fresh from kick-starting his Premier League campaign following eight straight defeats, Bunting averaged 105 in a 6-4 victory over Darius Labanauskas in Round Two.
Menzies, meanwhile, survived two match darts from James Wade to deny the UK Open finalist in a deciding leg, having whitewashed Host Nation qualifier Kevin Knopf in Round One.
Multiple European Tour event winners Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright go head-to-head as they aim to recapture their best form on finals day.
Chisnall, an eight-time winner on the Euro Tour, saw off Luke Woodhouse 6-2 with a 97.7 average on Saturday, while Wright punished two missed match darts from European Champion Ritchie Edhouse to snatch a 6-5 victory.
In-form Josh Rock, a Players Championship event winner last week, comes up against former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.
Rock produced the stand-out performance of the Second Round as he defeated Gian van Veen 6-4 with a 107.6 average to reach this stage of a Euro Tour event for the first time in three attempts this year.
Gilding, meanwhile, followed up his 6-3 win over William O’Connor on Friday by whitewashing Richard Veenstra, consolidating his place in the provisional qualification places for July’s World Matchplay.
Five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld aims to maintain his impressive form this weekend when he faces Czech star Karel Sedlacek.
Barney averaged 104.3 in a 6-1 rout of Patrick Klingelhöfer on Friday before coasting past an out of sorts Jonny Clayton 6-2 with a 97.3 average.
Sedlacek has already claimed the scalps of two Dutchmen – Jermaine Wattimena and Danny Noppert – by 6-4 scorelines, and will be eyeing a landmark treble in Riesa.
Eighth seed Damon Heta, European Tour event winner in 2022, takes on Dutch sensation Wessel Nijman.
Heta overcame Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-2 in his opener, while Nijman has made it back-to-back appearances in the Last 16 on the Euro Tour courtesy of wins over Radek Szagański and Chris Dobey.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
