The 2025 Hungarian Darts Trophy draws to a close in Budapest on Sunday as the 16 remaining hopefuls battle it out for the title.

A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the PVA Expo as 11 seeds and five qualifiers go head-to-head over two sessions.

The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.

Reigning champion Michael van Gerwen resumes the defence of his title with an all-Dutch clash against Danny Noppert.

Van Gerwen is bidding to make it back-to-back titles in the space of seven days following last week’s World Series Finals triumph on home soil in Amsterdam, but averaged just 85.8 in his opening round win over Matthew Dennant.

Noppert survived a match dart to edge out Robert Owen in the Last 32 and is eyeing a fourth quarter-final appearance in his last six European Tour outings.

Gerwyn Price, the inaugural Hungarian Trophy champion in 2021, resumes his bid to reclaim the title when he faces a resurgent Raymond van Barneveld.

Price coasted to a 6-2 victory over Richard Veenstra on Saturday, while Van Barneveld rolled back the years to thrash Dave Chisnall 6-1 with a 108 average and move in to the provisional qualification places for the European Championship.

The pair met in last week’s World Series Finals, with Price prevailing 6-4 with a 103 average to Barney’s 100 in a high quality second round encounter.

Meanwhile, a repeat of last year’s World Grand Prix final sees world number one Luke Humphries take on Mike De Decker.

Humphries is on the hunt for successive European Tour titles following his Czech Open triumph a fortnight ago and safely navigated his way through a tough opening tie against Nathan Aspinall on Saturday.

De Decker is gearing up for his World Grand Prix title defence next month and coasted to a 6-2 win over Tom Bissell, though he has not progressed beyond the Last 16 stage on the European Tour since finishing runner-up in the Belgian Darts Open back in March.

Reigning World Champion Luke Littler steps up his bid for a third European Tour title of the year with a tie against German number one Martin Schindler.

Littler, whose brace of Euro Tour titles this year have each come in Belgium, finished runner-up in last week’s World Series Finals and began his campaign in Budapest with a 6-1 rout of Joe Cullen.

Schindler, a three-time European Tour event winner, averaged just shy of 100 in a 6-2 success over Ryan Joyce and notably enjoyed victory over Littler and Humphries alongside Ricardo Pietreczko for Germany in June’s World Cup.

World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock looks to remain on course to reach a third consecutive European Tour final by overcoming France’s Thibault Tricole.

Rock finished runner-up in both the Flanders Darts Trophy and Czech Darts Open and defied a ton-plus average from Pietreczko to prevail 6-3 on Saturday.

Tricole, meanwhile, survived an astonishing eight missed match darts to snatch victory over Stephen Bunting in a deciding leg and progress to this stage of a European Tour event for the first time.

Rob Cross faces another crucial hurdle in his quest for European Championship qualification as he faces emerging German star Niko Springer.

Cross currently sits two places outside of the cut-off but victory over Springer would see him enter the top 32 on the European Order of Merit with the power to add.

Springer, runner-up at the Dutch Darts Championship in May, stormed to a 6-1 hammering of Damon Heta to follow up his first round win over Gian van Veen.

World Matchplay and UK Open finalist James Wade looks to remain on course for a fourth consecutive semi-final berth on the European Tour by dispatching Kim Huybrechts – who edged out Peter Wright in a deciding leg on Saturday.

The opening match of the afternoon sees Premier League and World Series star Chris Dobey take on Players Championship event winner Cameron Menzies – who saw off Ross Smith in Round Two.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
