German Darts Grand Prix 2025 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play
The top seeds get their German Darts Grand Prix campaigns under way on Sunday as the Second Round commences in Munich.
Day One of the season’s fourth European Tour event saw European Champion Ritchie Edhouse and two-time major winner Daryl Gurney among the notable names to suffer early exits, as well as all four Host Nation qualifiers.
The Order of Merit seeds take to the Kulturhalle Zenith stage on Day Two as they bid to safely progress to Monday’s Last 16.
Top seed Luke Littler returns to Euro Tour action as he takes on two-time Challenge Tour event winner Cam Crabtree.
Reigning World Champion Littler, who sits top of the Premier League, is bidding to add to his three European Tour titles, having retained the Belgian Darts Open crown last month.
Crabtree, meanwhile, survived a Luke Woodhouse fightback from 4-1 down to 5-4 up as he clinched a dramatic 6-5 victory in Saturday’s opening round.
Second seed Michael van Gerwen kicks off his latest quest for a first ranking title of the season with a clash against in-form Kim Huybrechts.
Van Gerwen suffered another quarter-final exit in the Premier League on home soil in Rotterdam on Thursday but will be keen to recapture the form which led him to the semi-finals of the recent European Darts Trophy.
Former Euro Tour event winner Huybrechts got off and running in style with a 104.8 average in a 6-0 whitewash of host nation debutant Finn Behrens.
The evening session also sees former World Champion Gerwyn Price, a winner of three ProTour titles in 2025, open up against five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld in a blockbuster tie.
Two-time European Champion Peter Wright, the number eight seed, starts out against reigning World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.
Former European Champion Ross Smith hosts 2024 European Championship runner-up Jermaine Wattimena, while eight-time European Tour event winner Dave Chisnall faces a tough opener against two-time Euro Tour finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Ten-time major winner James Wade, runner-up in last month’s UK Open, faces Dutch left-hander Niels Zonneveld – who defied a 100 average from Gurney in Round One to remain firmly in the race for World Matchplay qualification.
Jonny Clayton looks to pick up from where he left off in winning Players Championship 14 in Rosmalen earlier in the week when he faces home favourite Martin Schindler.
Like Schindler, fourth seed Clayton is vying for a third European Tour title but comes up against the in-form German number one – who averaged 102.8 in a 6-3 defeat of Mario Vandenbogaerde on Saturday.
The afternoon’s line-up includes a tasty showdown between multiple Players Championship event winners Ryan Searle and Cameron Menzies.
Former World Champion Michael Smith – a six-time Euro Tour event winner – meets Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski, while three-time Euro Tour event winner Joe Cullen faces a tough assignment against Grand Slam semi-finalist Mickey Mansell.
Josh Rock, winner of a Players Championship event earlier this month and a beaten finalist a week later, takes on his close friend and practice partner Scott Williams – who saw off Wessel Nijman 6-4 in his opener.
Former World Champion and current Premier League star Rob Cross starts out against home favourite Ricardo Pietreczko – who averaged 106 in a stunning display to thrash Adam Paxton 6-1 on Saturday.
World Youth Champion Gian van Veen looks to build on his 102.5 average in dispatching Rene Eidams in Round One when he returns to face former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.
Seventh seed Damon Heta, winner of Players Championship 13 last Monday, aims to continue his fine form when he faces World Grand Prix semi-finalist Ryan Joyce.
Ninth seed Danny Noppert starts his latest pursuit of a maiden Euro Tour title with a tie against Latvian number one Madars Razma in the opening game of the day.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
