German Darts Grand Prix 2025 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The fourth European Tour title of the season is up for grabs at the German Darts Grand Prix on Easter Monday as the last 16 collide in Munich.
A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the SACHSENarena as ten seeds and six qualifiers face off over two sessions at the Kulturhalle Zenith.
The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.
Michael van Gerwen resumes his quest for a fourth German Grand Prix title with a clash against last season’s Swiss Darts Trophy runner-up – Ryan Searle.
Van Gerwen won the first three stagings of this event from 2017-2019 and was runner-up here 12 months ago to Luke Humphries.
The three-time World Champion survived three match darts from Kim Huybrechts in his opener on Sunday, while Searle safely saw off an out of sorts Cameron Menzies 6-2.
Top seed Luke Littler steps up his pursuit of a second European Tour title of the campaign when he takes on three-time Euro Tour event winner Joe Cullen.
The reigning World Champion averaged 107 in a 6-1 rout of Cam Crabtree on Sunday night and will be keen to pick up from where he left off as he seeks a fourth Euro Tour triumph in total.
Gerwyn Price, a three-time ProTour event winner this season, takes on another of the most in-form players on the circuit at present – Josh Rock.
Price, who dispatched birthday boy Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 in Round Two, is out to add to his eight Euro Tour titles and secure what would be a first since 2023.
Rock, who has also picked up a Players Championship title this month, averaged 100.7 in a commanding 6-2 win over his close friend Scott Williams on Sunday.
German number one Martin Schindler, the last home hopeful left standing in the competition, aims to delight the crowd in Munich once again by overcoming World Youth champion Gian van Veen.
Schindler has already seen off Mario Vandenbogaerde and Jonny Clayton and will have his sights set on a third European Tour title inside 12 months.
Van Veen, meanwhile, averaged 102.5 in a 6-2 victory over host nation qualifier Rene Eidams, before overcoming Andrew Gilding 6-4 with a 99.2 average on Sunday.
Fifth seed Dave Chisnall and 12th seed Ross Smith collide in a repeat of last year’s European Darts Open final.
Chisnall prevailed 8-6 on that occasion to claim the title, before going on to add the Flanders Darts Trophy to his collection later in the year.
Smith, runner-up in two Euro Tour events in 2024, continues his quest to go one better this season, having defied a 100.2 average from Jermaine Wattimena to prevail 6-4 in Round Two.
Rob Cross, last season’s Baltic Sea Darts Open champion, takes on former Gibraltar Trophy and German Open winner Krzysztof Ratajski.
Cross silenced the partisan German crowd by defeating Ricardo Pietreczko in his opener, while Ratajski followed up a deciding leg win over Mensur Suljovic by seeing off 2023 World Champion Michael Smith 6-4.
Elsewhere, World Grand Prix semi-finalist Ryan Joyce faces in-form Dutchman Niels Zonneveld in what could prove to be a pivotal clash in the race for World Matchplay qualification.
Joyce has dropped just one leg in thrashing András Borbély and Damon Heta so far this weekend, while Zonneveld has already put former major winners Daryl Gurney and James Wade to the sword.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
