European Darts Trophy 2026 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The second European Tour silverware of the season is up for grabs at the European Darts Trophy on Sunday as the last 16 go head-to-head in Göttingen.
Nine seeds and seven qualifiers remain in contention for the £35,000 top prize at the Lokhalle as they face off over two sessions.
The afternoon session, starting at the earlier time of 11am GMT, plays host to the Last 16 ties, before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final follow in the evening from 5pm.
One of the stand-out ties of the Third Round sees former UK Open champion Danny Noppert take on former World Champion Gerwyn Price.
Eighth seed Noppert is vying for his first European Tour title, having lost in three previous finals, and eased past Ricky Evans 6-1 on Saturday despite an average of just 85.8.
Price, meanwhile, is bidding for his tenth European Tour title and was emphatic in reeling off five consecutive legs to defeat Joe Cullen 6-2 with a 106.7 average in his opener.
Elsewhere, two of the Netherlands’ most exciting young talents collide as European Champion Gian van Veen takes on multiple ProTour event winner Wessel Nijman.
Van Veen remains in pursuit of an elusive maiden European Tour final, having twice finished runner-up, and blitzed past Krzysztof Ratajski 6-1 in Saturday’s second round.
Nijman, twice a Euro Tour semi-finalist last season, produced an inspired comeback to deny Cristo Reyes in a last-leg decider on Friday, before averaging 100.4 in a 6-2 rout of Mike De Decker.
Kevin Doets has established himself as the stand-out performer of the tournament so far, and the Dutchman now meets Aussie number one Damon Heta.
Doets registered a top five average in the history of the European Tour (117.12) in his 6-0 whitewash of Jonas Masalin on Friday and followed that up with a 6-4 win over Cam Crabtree to reach the Last 16 of a Euro Tour event for only the third time.
Heta, whose sole European Tour title came in 2022, set his stall out in style by dispatching Darius Labanauskas 6-3 with a 101.4 average on Saturday.
Another stand-out tie sees World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock face former Masters champion Chris Dobey.
Rock is currently stranded at the foot of the Premier League title after six consecutive defeats, but his form elsewhere remains strong, with a semi-final run at the UK Open last weekend and a solid 6-4 win over Host Nation qualifier Paul Krohne on Saturday.
Dobey remains without a European Tour title to his name, having come closest in 2019 when he reached the Danish Open final, but an impressive start here saw him thrash Luke Woodhouse 6-1 with a 98 average.
Niels Zonneveld’s reward for his second round scalp of Michael van Gerwen is a clash with another Dutch compatriot in Jermaine Wattimena.
Zonneveld produced his best-ever European Tour performance to prevail 6-2 with a 104.4 average, defying a 107 average from Van Gerwen.
Wattimena, meanwhile, held his nerve to edge out Germany’s Lukas Wenig in a last-leg decider with a 99 average and eight maximums to his name.
The opening match of the afternoon sees World Championship semi-finalist Ryan Searle take on two-time Lakeside semi-finalist Richard Veenstra.
Searle saw off Daryl Gurney 6-3 with a 99.5 average in his opener, while Veenstra dumped out home favourite Martin Schindler 6-4 with a 97 average.
Home hopes rest on the shoulders of Niko Springer as he continues his quest for a second European Tour title with a tie against former European Champion Ross Smith.
Springer has seemingly put his poor start to the season behind him on his return to home soil, defeating Kai Gotthardt and fifth seed Stephen Bunting in last-leg deciders, while Smith saw off Dave Chisnall 6-4 in his opener.
Three-time European Tour finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode, who edged out Rob Cross in a deciding leg on Saturday, now comes up against Austrian stalwart Mensur Suljovic – who has already seen off Willie O’Connor and Karel Sedlacek en route to this stage.
The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with Last 16 and quarter-final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, semi-finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
