The eighth European Tour silverware of the season is on the line in Leverkusen on Sunday as the last 16 lock horns at the European Darts Open.

A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the Ostermann-Arena as eight seeds and eight qualifiers go head-to-head over two sessions.

The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.

Last week’s Dutch Darts Championship winner Jonny Clayton continues his bid for back-to-back titles with a showdown against World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.

Clayton, who is out to become only the eighth player to win four or more Euro Tour titles, began by defeating Jermaine Wattimena 6-4 in a high quality contest which featured seven 180s apiece.

De Decker, runner-up in March’s Belgian Darts Open, averaged 101.4 in a 6-3 success over Ryan Joyce.

International Open champion Stephen Bunting resumes his quest for a second Euro Tour title of the year when he meets in-form Daryl Gurney.

Top seed Bunting overcame Luke Woodhouse 6-3 in Saturday’s opener with a 100.8 average, and now faces a resurgent Gurney – who averaged 97 in a 6-2 win over Richard Veenstra on Friday, before replicating that scoreline against Gian van Veen in Round Two with a superb 107.2 average.

Peter Wright, winner of this title in 2014 and 2017, resumes his quest for the hat-trick when he takes on Dutch sensation Wessel Nijman.

Wright, who has reached a trio of Euro Tour quarter-finals this year, survived two match darts from Darryl Pilgrim in his opener on Saturday, while last week’s semi-finalist Nijman followed up Friday’s win over Brendan Dolan by dumping out Gary Anderson 6-4.

Third seed Damon Heta, who missed double 12 for a nine-darter in Saturday’s win over Mickey Mansell, now comes up against Swedish star Andreas Harrysson.

Harrysson, 49, dumped out Raymond van Barneveld in Round One before sensationally thrashing another former World Champion in Michael Smith 6-1 with a 106 average.

Ten-time major winner James Wade, who whitewashed Lukas Wenig in his opener, takes on Canadian number one Matt Campbell – who knocked out 11th seed Ross Smith 6-2 on Saturday.

Having already dethroned defending champion Dave Chisnall, two-time ProTour event winner Cameron Menzies comes up against European Champion Ritchie Edhouse.

European Darts Trophy champion Nathan Aspinall, semi-finalist in the Premier League on Thursday night, takes on Ricardo Pietreczko – the last remaining German in the competition.

Premier League star Chris Dobey, who battled back from 4-1 down to edge out Niko Springer in a deciding leg on Saturday, meets former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding – who narrowly denied Ryan Searle by the same scoreline.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
