Dawson Murschell has withdrawn from the World Series Finals after being taken ill on Thursday and will be replaced at the eleventh hour by Max Hopp.
Murschell was due to face Dave Chisnall in Vienna on Friday night but was taken ill at Heathrow airport on Thursday and spent the night in hospital.
The 22-year-old revealed he collapsed due to complications with stomach flu and will now take time to recover before competing in the World Youth Championship on Monday.
Germany’s Hopp has been called up to replace the Canadian as the next highest ranked player on the World Series Order of Merit who was able to make the trip to Austria.
Hopp reached the Semi-Finals of last week’s European Championship and has also claimed a European Tour title this season.
The winner will progress to face UK Open and World Matchplay champion Gary Anderson in the Second Round on Saturday.
