Bennett claimed the lucrative £1
A new darting star was born as 12-year-old Leighton Bennett picked up the 2018 Cambridgeshire Open title on Sunday.
Lincolnshire-based Bennett fended off a clutch of PDC and BDO professionals in a field of 101 players to scoop the £1,000 top prize and announce himself as a potential star of the future.
Bennett, who made his senior county debut in February 2017 aged just 11, whitewashed PDC Development Tour player Rhys Hayden 5-0 in the final with an average of 82.59.
The youngster had defeated Ricky Evans 4-3 in the Semi-Finals, defying a 92 average from the world number 57.

UK Open semi-finalist David Pallett was among the PDC players in action and he came agonisingly close to perfection, missing double 18 for a nine-dart finish.
The Ladies final saw Casey Gallagher continue her fine run of form by defeating Deta Hedman 4-2 in the final.
