Phil Taylor blasted his performance as “absolute rubbish” against John Part in the World Seniors Matchplay.

The 16-time World Champion averaged just 80.4 in a gruelling 9-7 win over the Canadian in their First Round tie at the York Barbican on Saturday.

Taylor then succumbed 8-6 to qualifier Paul Hogan in Sunday afternoon’s Quarter-Finals, extending his wait for an elusive maiden World Seniors title.

Taylor was heavily critical of his opening performance in his post-match press conference, revealing he considered quitting during the match and retiring from competitive action entirely.
