Gerwyn Price v Luke Humphries live stream | World Grand Prix 2026 Final Preview
Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries go head-to-head in a quest for 2026 World Grand Prix glory in Leicester on Sunday.
A repeat of the 2023 final sees Humphries bidding to do the double over Price in the sport’s unique double-start major.
Humphries has already made history by becoming the first player ever to reach four consecutive World Grand Prix finals, but will be determined to avert a third straight runner-up spot at the Mattioli Arena.
The world number two famously secured his first major title here at the expense of Price with a 138 checkout three years ago and has gone on to add a further seven majors to his collection.
The 31-year-old, however, has lost his last five major finals in a row, though four of which were at the hands of rival Luke Littler – who suffered a shock first round exit here this week.
A starting doubles success rate of 52.8 per cent has been integral to Humphries’ success this week, with the former World Champion storming into the semi-finals without a dropping a set.
Commanding wins over Dave Chisnall, Jermaine Wattimena and Niels Zonneveld were followed up by a hard-fought 5-3 victory over two-time champion James Wade late on Saturday evening.
Price, meanwhile, also looks to become only the fourth multiple champion in the 28-year history of the World Grand Prix, six years on from lifting the trophy behind closed doors in Coventry.
Price has finished runner-up on a further two occasions since then (2021 and 2023) and is bidding to end a five-year wait for major ranking silverware.
Like Humphries, Price’s recent record in major finals makes for ominous reading, with four consecutive defeats, including at the World Series Finals a fortnight ago.
The Welsh number one opened up with a 101.6 average in seeing off debutant Sebastian Bialecki, before avenging his defeat to Ross Smith in the World Series Final with a 3-0 rout.
He then pulled off a sensational comeback from two sets down and then two legs down in the deciding set to deny his compatriot Jonny Clayton, surviving three match darts in the process, before dispatching 2022 runner-up Nathan Aspinall 5-2 in Saturday’s semi-finals.
Incredibly, of their 34 previous meetings in PDC competition, Price and Humphries are locked level at 17 wins apiece.
The final gets under way from 8pm BST and will be contested over the best of 11 sets (best of five legs per set).
