German Darts Grand Prix 2026 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The fourth European Tour silverware of the season is up for grabs as the 16 remaining players do battle at the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday.
Six seeds and ten qualifiers remain in contention for the £35,000 top prize at the Zenith as they face off over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the Last 16 ties, before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final follow in the evening.
With a staggering ten seeds having been sent packing on Sunday, the draw appears wide open for a potential new name to be added on the European Tour roll of honour.
Two players who are no strangers to lifting European Tour titles go head-to-head in one of the stand-out third round ties as Nathan Aspinall faces Martin Schindler.
Aspinall, who racked up a hat-trick of European Tour titles last season, edged out Ricardo Pietreczko in a last-leg decider on Sunday and now faces another home favourite in Schindler – who battled past Brendan Dolan in a gruelling contest.
Niko Springer is also carrying home hopes on his shoulders as he faces former World Champion Michael Smith.
Springer, last year’s Hungarian Darts Trophy winner, romped to a 6-1 rout of defending champion Michael van Gerwen on Sunday night, while Smith produced a pivotal 136 checkout on his way to a deciding-leg victory over Dave Chisnall.
Meanwhile, two in-form Dutch stars collide as Kevin Doets takes on Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Doets has landed a 170 checkout in each of his two wins this weekend, whitewashing Sweden’s Anton Ostlund, before overcoming fourth seed James Wade in a decider.
Van Duijvenbode began the weekend with a routine 6-2 win over Stephen Burton, before battling past former World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker in a deciding leg in Round Two.
World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock resumes his quest for a second European Tour title with a tie against an inspired Niels Zonneveld.
Rock, the 2024 Dutch Darts Championship winner, averaged 102.5 in a high quality 6-4 win over Ryan Joyce and is now out to deny Zonneveld a third consecutive European Tour quarter-final appearance.
The left-hander reached the semi-finals of both the European Darts Trophy and Belgian Darts Open and thrashed Jermaine Wattimena 6-1 in Sunday’s second round.
Jonny Clayton has been installed as the new favourite to claim glory in Munich, and the Premier League star now comes up against Belgian stalwart Kim Huybrechts.
Clayton survived a major scare in his opener on Sunday, breaking throw in the deciding leg to defeat Marcel Hausotter 6-5, while Huybrechts followed up Saturday’s opening victory over Peter Wright with a 6-1 hammering of Luke Woodhouse, averaging 100.2 in the process.
The opening match of the afternoon sees Danny Noppert resume his bid for an elusive maiden European Tour title with a tie against Czechia number one – Karel Sedlacek.
Sixth seed Noppert saw off Ritchie Edhouse in a deciding leg with a 99.4 average, while Sedlacek has already put paid to the hopes of Cameron Menzies and 11th seed Damon Heta.
Former World Master Krzysztof Ratajski, who averaged 98.8 in a 6-5 win over Ryan Searle, comes up against former European Champion Ross Smith.
Two unseeded hopefuls go head-to-head as former World Cup of Darts finalist William O’Connor faces former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.
O’Connor ousted top seed Gian van Veen 6-2 in the second round, while Gilding has profited from his late call-up via the reserve list to defeat Wessel Nijman and Daryl Gurney.
The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with Last 16 and quarter-final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, semi-finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
