Boris Krcmar has withdrawn from the 2025 WDF World Championship at Lakeside due to scheduling conflicts.

The Croatian had been due to make his debut in the WDF’s showpiece event from November 28 to December 7, but is now unable to compete due to existing soft-tip commitments.

The former PDC Tour Card holder had been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite for the Lakeside title but was already registered to compete in a lucrative soft-tip tournament in Japan.

Krcmar has been replaced by Belgium’s Sybren Gijbels – who will now face USA’s Kevin Luke in the first round for the right to play 12th seed David Pallett.

“I was looking forward to participating at Lakeside because it was my first time qualifying and I thought I would be able to play at Lakeside and keep my soft-tip commitments in Japan,” said Krcmar.

“Unfortunately, I have since checked my travel options more closely and I cannot make it work without affecting other players.

“I’m very disappointed about this but I hope I get the chance to compete at Lakeside in the future.”

Krcmar dropped off the PDC circuit at the end of last season despite reaching the third round of the World Championship, but featured in this year’s World Cup of Darts and came through the recent qualifying event to book his spot at Lakeside.

Croatian hopes in the competition new rest on Romeo Grbavac – who faces Alex Williams in the opening round.
