The 2025 German Darts Championship draws to a close in Hildesheim on Sunday with the final European Tour silverware of the season on offer.

A £30,000 top prize is up for grabs at Halle 39 as seven seeds and nine qualifiers go head-to-head over two sessions.

The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.

Following Sunday’s action, the top 32 players in the European Order of Merit will progress to compete in next week’s European Championship in Dortmund.

Two places are still be decided, with Rob Cross and Dave Chisnall currently occupying the final two qualification spots.

Ricky Evans and Steve Lennon are the only two players who could gatecrash next week’s ranked major if they were to win the title in Hildesheim.

Evans has taken full advantage of his late call-up via the reserve list by recording successive 6-2 wins over Joe Cullen and Josh Rock to reach the Last 16 of a European Tour event for the first time in three years.

He now faces a crunch clash with ninth seed Chisnall – who overcame Gabriel Clemens 6-4 with a 99.9 average to end the drought and register his first win on the European Tour since April.

Lennon, meanwhile, faces a showdown with in-form Nathan Aspinall – who has averaged 103.7 and 107.5 in victories over Maximilian Czerwinski and Ross Smith so far this weekend.

Lennon, who came through the Tour Card holder qualifier, began by defeating Jeffrey de Graaf 6-2, before overturning a 4-1 deficit and surviving six match darts to snatch victory over Damon Heta in a decider on Saturday.

Reigning champion Peter Wright resumes the defence of his title with an all-Scottish tie against Cameron Menzies.

Wright dug deep to deny 2023 champion Ricardo Pietreczko in a deciding leg on Saturday and cement his place in the European Championship in the process.

Menzies, meanwhile, followed up Friday’s 6-4 win over Wesley Plaisier by thrashing Rob Cross 6-1 and is now vying to reach a third European Tour quarter-final of the season.

Gerwyn Price steps up his quest for a first German Championship title with a clash against recent Hungarian Darts Trophy finalist Danny Noppert.

Price, winner of the Baltic Sea Darts Open earlier this year, opened up with a 6-1 rout of Christian Kist with a 100.4 average, while Noppert punished a below-par Luke Woodhouse to seal a 6-3 success despite an average of 88.5.

Dutch Championship winner Jonny Clayton comes up against World Youth Championship finalist Gian van Veen in one of the stand-out ties of the Third Round.

Clayton reeled off three straight legs to see off Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 on Saturday evening, while Van Veen averaged 99 in a 6-4 success over Dutch compatriot Niels Zonneveld to remain in contention for a maiden European Tour title.

Elsewhere, two in-form Dutch stars collide as Jermaine Wattimena takes on Wessel Nijman.

Wattimena, winner of a Players Championship last week, backed up a 105.6 average in Round One by dispatching James Wade with a stunning 107.5 average, defying a 106.2 average from the ten-time major winner.

Nijman swept aside 2024 World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker 6-2 to reach the Last 16 of a European Tour event for the eighth time in 14 appearances this season.

Dirk van Duijvenbode is another Dutchman aiming to maintain his remarkable burst of form when he meets home hero Martin Schindler.

Van Duijvenbode raised the roof at Halle 39 with a nine-darter on Friday before recording his highest-ever average (117.74) in his second round win over Chris Dobey.

Three-time European Tour event winner Schindler delighted the partisan German crowd by defying a 101.3 average from William O’Connor to prevail 6-4 courtesy of five legs on the spin.

Former ranking event winners Ryan Joyce and Krzysztof Ratajski also go head-to-head after dumping out seeded opposition on Saturday.

Joyce averaged 101 in a 6-4 success over top seed Stephen Bunting, while Ratajski saw off Ryan Searle 6-3 with a 102 average of his own.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
