Swiss Darts Trophy 2025 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The 2025 Swiss Darts Trophy draws to a close in Basel on Sunday as the 16 remaining hopefuls battle it out for the title.
A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the St. Jakobshalle as nine seeds and seven qualifiers go head-to-head over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.
A crucial day lies ahead in the race for both World Grand Prix and European Championship qualification, with the field for the Grand Prix set to be confirmed following Sunday’s action.
A huge showdown sees five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld take on reigning European Champion Ritchie Edhouse.
Van Barneveld knows victory would see him qualify for the World Grand Prix at the expense of Dave Chisnall – who has been an ever-present in the event since 2011.
Edhouse, meanwhile, must win in order to maintain his hopes of qualifying for next month’s European Championship and give himself a chance of defending the title, and he must win the Swiss Trophy in order to make the World Grand Prix.
Elsewhere, Martin Schindler resumes the defence of his title with a tie against Dutch Darts Championship winner Jonny Clayton – who averaged 105.3 in a 6-4 win over Nathan Aspinall on Saturday.
World number one Luke Humphries continues his quest for a second European Tour of September when he faces his close friend Ryan Searle.
Humphries hammered Callan Rydz 6-2 with a 100 average and six from seven on the doubles in his opener, while last year’s runner-up Searle saw off Niels Zonneveld 6-3 with an impressive 101 average.
Gian van Veen could enter the world’s top 16 for the first time with a run to the final in Basel, and the World Youth Champion meets Ryan Joyce in the Last 16.
Second seed Stephen Bunting, International Open winner earlier this year, takes on Krzysztof Ratajski – whose narrow deciding-leg win over Mike De Decker secured his spot in the World Grand Prix.
European Championship runner-up Jermaine Wattimena aims to follow up his sensational second round showing when he faces Luke Woodhouse.
Wattimena averaged 107.3 in thrashing Josh Rock 6-1, but it was Woodhouse who registered the performance of the tournament so far by averaging 110.7 in a 6-2 success over Chisnall.
Premier League star Chris Dobey looks to end the landmark run of Norway’s Cor Dekker – who is featuring at this stage of a European Tour event for the first time following impressive wins over Andrew Gilding and Peter Wright.
Rob Cross looks to solidify his spot in the European Championship by overcoming last week’s Hungarian Darts Trophy finalist Danny Noppert.
Cross moved into the provisional qualification places courtesy of his victory over Richard Veenstra on Saturday, while Noppert averaged 104.5 in a high quality deciding-leg win over William O’Connor.
The action gets under way from 11am BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
