Gerwyn Price pulls out of 2024 World Cup of Darts

Gerwyn Price has been ruled out of the 2024 World Cup of Darts and will be replaced in the Wales team by Jim Williams.
Price was due to partner Jonny Clayton in the annual pairs event, which takes place from June 27-30 in Frankfurt, but has withdrawn for health reasons.
Price and Clayton claimed the World Cup of Darts title for the second time in 2023, but world number 44 Williams will now step in to make his debut in the event.
Price said: “I’m massively disappointed that I’m having to miss the World Cup and I always love representing Wales.
“I wish Jonny and Jim Williams the best of luck this weekend and hopefully they can bring back the title again.”
He later posted on Instagram: ‘A very tough decision and I’m absolutely gutted to have to withdraw. It’s my favourite event of the whole year but been suffering a long while with a few medical issues and last week was a wake-up call to get myself sorted.
Sorry to Jonny and the whole of Wales but I’m sure Jonny and Jim will do us all proud. All the best lads, bring it home.’
With the group stage draw having already been made, Wales will retain their status as the number two seeds and will enter the event in Saturday’s Second Round at the Eissporthalle.
The 14th staging of the PDC World Cup features 40 teams competing for £450,000 in prize money, with all matches contested in a pairs format.
