WDF World Championship odds | Outright betting for Lakeside 2023
Andy Baetens has been installed as pre-tournament favourite to claim the 2023 WDF World Championship title at Lakeside.
The second staging of the WDF World Championship will feature 48 men and 24 women competing for the respective titles at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green from December 2-10.
Belgian star Baetens is number one seed in the men’s draw, having dominated the WDF circuit this year by picking up eight ranking titles.
Twice a Lakeside quarter-finalist, Baetens was also runner-up in this year’s Dutch Open and impressed on his PDC European Tour debut – reaching the Last 16 of the Belgian Darts Open.
Baetens heads the outright market at 9/2 with Bet365 to cap off a prolific year by claiming a maiden Lakeside crown.
Leonard Gates knows exactly what it takes to clinch televised silverware, having racked up a hat-trick of World Seniors titles in 2023, and the popular American is 8/1 to replicate that success on the Lakeside stage.
Chris Landman has featured regularly on the PDC ProTour this year as a non Tour Card holder, notably reaching the final of Players Championship Nine, and the Dutchman is 10/1 to follow in the footsteps of a clutch of his compatriots at Lakeside over the years.
One of those players is Jelle Klaasen, who famously triumphed here back in 2006 to become the youngest player to win the World Championship, aged 21.
Klaasen returns as the number three seed having picked up a number of WDF titles this year and appeared in three PDC European Tour events, and is 18/1 to roll back the years.
World Masters champion Wesley Plaisier is well-fancied at 11/1 to continue his fine vein of form, which has seen him reach the Semi-Finals of a PDC European Tour event this year.
Denmark Open champion Sebastian Bialecki, who reached the Quarter-Finals of last year’s UK Open, is 14/1 to lift the title at Lakeside, while methodical German Liam Maendl-Lawrance is 16/1 to complete a fairy-tale triumph.
Neil Duff is bidding to become the first male player since Glen Durrant to defend the title at Lakeside, and the Northern Irishman is 16/1 to achieve that feat.
Former PDC World Championship semi-finalist Jamie Lewis and Scottish veteran Gary Stone are also priced at 16/1, while American left-hander Danny Lauby is a popular each-way selection at 20/1.
The women’s event features one of the shortest pre-tournament prices in Lakeside history, with Beau Greaves returning as the overwhelming 1/5 favourite to retain her crown.
Greaves has taken women’s darts to new heights over the past 18 months, picking up the World Matchplay title and dominating the WDF circuit as well as the PDC Women’s Series.
The Doncaster darter stormed to a maiden world title in April 2022 and it looks like taking something special to deny her becoming a multiple World Champion.
Lancashire veteran Lisa Ashton leads the chasing packing at 13/2 to claim her fifth world title, with second seed and Dutch Open winner Aileen De Graaf following at 12/1.
