World Seniors Masters 2023 Odds | Gates and Thornton favourites for further silverware
Leonard Gates and Robert Thornton have been installed as joint favourites to claim the 2023 World Seniors Masters title.
The second staging of the World Seniors Masters features 16 players battling it out at Westlands, Yeovil from June 24-25.
The field for the over 50s event includes six former World Champions, as well as a host of other decorated stars and in-form qualifiers.
American ace Gates picked up his first Seniors title at the Champion of Champions in Blackpool in March and comes into this event as the bookmakers’ joint favourite to go back-to-back.
Gates, the number three seed, faces a tough opener against former PDC world finalist Mark Dudbridge – who may represent each-way value at 25/1 after impressing on his World Seniors Championship debut in February by reaching the Quarter-Finals.
Thornton, the reigning and back-to-back World Seniors champion, is eyeing a fourth crown having also picked up the World Seniors Matchplay title last July and is also priced at 7/2.
Richie Howson, runner-up in both the World Seniors Championship and Champion of Champions this year, follows in the market at 13/2 to go one better and pick up his first televised title.
Canada’s David Cameron enjoyed a sensational triumph to claim this title at Lakeside last year and the defending champion is 7/1 to repeat the feat in Yeovil.
Cameron defeated Phil Taylor in the 2022 final, and 16-time World Champion Taylor remains in search of an elusive maiden Seniors crown.
The Power comes into the event at his longest outright price (7/1) since the inception of the Seniors tour, having lost to Howson and Gates in this year’s televised tournaments so far.
Former BDO world finalist Mark McGeeney, who faces Taylor in Round One, is 14/1 to claim glory on his televised Seniors debut, while three-time World Champion Martin Adams is 12/1 to secure his first Seniors silverware.
Reigning WDF World Champion Neil Duff is also a 12/1 chance to lift the trophy, while World Seniors Championship semi-finalist Kevin Painter is 11/1.
Chris Mason, who faces ten-time Women’s World Champion Trina Gulliver MBE in his opener, is 8/1 to triumph in the West Country, while Northern Ireland’s Colin McGarry is likely to be a popular each-way selection at 20/1.
