The Group Stage action continues at the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton on Sunday with a crucial second set of fixtures.

Another double session at the Aldersley Leisure Village sees part two of Groups A-D contested in the afternoon, before Groups E-H resume in the evening.

Saturday’s losers will face off in potentially decisive show-downs, while the opening day’s winners also collide in a quest to seal a Last 16 spot.

Defending champion Gerwyn Price got off to a flying start as he thrashed Ted Evetts 5-1 with a 101.4 average, and the Welshman looks to rubber-stamp qualification for the knock-out phase by overcoming Raymond van Barneveld.

The 2012 champion defied a plethora of missed doubles to defeat Dave Chisnall in his opener and will be out to pull off another big result in his pursuit of a first knock-out phase appearance since 2017.

Chisnall, runner-up in 2014, looks to take his qualification hopes down to the final game and effectively eliminate 2021 World Youth champion Ted Evetts when the pair collide in the other Group A fixture.

Group C features a clash between Michael Smith, a three-time beaten major finalist this year, and reigning Masters champion Joe Cullen.

Smith battled his way past Lisa Ashton to seal a 5-3 win on Saturday, while Cullen enjoyed a commanding 5-1 victory over Ritchie Edhouse to move top of the table.

Tour Card holder qualifier Edhouse and Women’s Series Order of Merit winner Ashton face off in a must-win contest for both if they are to harbour any hopes of reaching the Last 16.

Two-time European Champion Rob Cross comes up against World Series Finals runner-up Dirk van Duijvenbode, with the pair vying for top spot after each registering ton-plus averages in their opening day wins.

Martin Schindler was narrowly denied by Van Duijvenbode in a deciding leg and will look to bounce back when he faces Czech qualifier Adam Gawlas.

UK Open champion Danny Noppert takes on World Cup winner Simon Whitlock in a clash between Saturday’s winners in Group B, while former semi-finalist Mensur Suljovic faces PDC Asian Tour winner Christian Perez in a battle for survival.

The evening session commences with a tie between World Youth finalist Josh Rock and Challenge Tour winner Scott Williams – both of whom have claimed ProTour titles in a breakthrough 2022.

Rock was narrowly beaten 5-4 by Ryan Searle on his debut on Saturday, while Williams went down 5-2 to Luke Humphries.

Players Championship Finals runner-up Searle and four-time European Tour event winner Humphries will then go head-to-head in a quest to top the table.

Three-time champion Michael van Gerwen put down a marker with a 101.5 average in his victory over Nathan Rafferty on opening night, and the world number three now meets debutant Luke Woodhouse.

Woodhouse held his nerve to defeat European Champion Ross Smith thanks to a 104 checkout in the deciding leg and will be eyeing a significant scalp over the short format.

Smith and 2021 World Youth finalist Rafferty will face off in pursuit of a crucial two points to keep their qualification hopes afloat.

Two-time World Champion Peter Wright takes on Alan Soutar in an all-Scottish show-down in Group E, with both having made winning starts on Saturday.

Women’s World Matchplay champion Sherrock, quarter-finalist here 12 months ago, aims to recover from her 5-1 defeat to ‘Snakebite’ when she faces World Grand Prix finalist Nathan Aspinall – who was out of sorts in a 5-4 defeat to Soutar.

World Cup finalist Jonny Clayton and Tour Card holder qualifier Jermaine Wattimena lock horns in Group F with a place in the Second Round on the line.

Elsewhere, World Cup winner Damon Heta aims to overcome North American champion Leonard Gates – who was whitewashed 5-0 by Clayton on debut last night.

The action gets under way from 1pm GMT, with group matches to be contested over the best of nine legs.
